That looks good PKC. loving the realistic look of the fire too

yeah, the fire effects are cool! oh, also all buildings are fully destructible, so you put that flamer into the building and it will eventually burn down. they take damage in parts too, so enemy armour can blow holes in your building which can then give your troops new openings to fire out of.

i know youre not an RTS fan begic, but supreme commander (my tip for 2007 game of the year) will be making a console release at some stage! if youre nice and maybe do a promo mix or something i might get you a copy so i can smash you online ;)

I concur with everything youve said about the game PKC... What impressed me the most about the game is the manner in which the battlefield changes from all the explosions and how infantry can use the "new terrain" as cover... Because of this aspect of the game - each battle never plays the same way and constantly changes.

Breaking the map into sections with the various resources scattered across the map, forces you to get out there and fight in an aggressive and / or covert manner. Its not a build a base, create a load of units and then attack sort of RTS game.... which is great.

The graphics are insane and the settings i have it on is pretty ing . I would also recommend this anyone - particularly to competitive gamers

fifa 07

well, a new season and another EA offering of the world's number one sport. never played 2006, only the world cup edition so i cant really compare. but its definitely an improvement over the latter. 500 odd teams of goodness, what more could you ask for!?

the biggest and most important change we see from previous versions in the physics. finally we have a game that really feels organic in how both the balls & players respond. i never really noticed the issues WC had until i played 07. players tumble after stretching to make the cross, and the ball actually bounces the way it should a whole lot more. makes for a much more fluid experience, and certainly feels a whole lot more realistic.

have only played a dozen games or so, but already i can tell its a whole lot harder to score than WC was. the thru-ball has been significantly tweaked, so no easy goals here any more. for the first time ever im getting over 50% possession, yet losing more games and conceding more goals at the same time. the AI uses the ball much more intelligently (thank god) yet are much easier to tackle (thank god). fvck WC annoyed me when theyd tackle you in a second yet it took you ages to do the same.

theres a whole new world of shooting, with finesse shots blah blah. havent really gone too much into it coz theres so many controls to learn i havent got my head round it yet.

which brings me to the only major negative. first off, if youre not using a 100% supported controller, expect frustration until you work out how to edit the .dat file so you can then use your right analogue stick. and even then, whichever muppet designed the sticks certainly didnt have me in mind, coz theyre unwieldy and cumbersome in a football game. and if you dont use them, no tricks for you as all tricks use that right stick. its a bit of a pain, but im sure you console fags wouldnt have any problems.

graphics havent changed much, tho the celebrations have received a nice upgrade. no fvcking idea though why on the higher res settings it can get so sluggish. i certainly dont expect that from an isometric viewpoint of little men running around on a big slab of green. lazy coders imo. sound has been improved in the crowd, much more reactive to whats going on, and its fvcking awesome to hear liverpool's cheer squad in full voice. why theyve stuck with the same commentator is beyond me, coz he is annoying as fvck. why not get martin tyler ffs? and the sound bites are 75% identical with WC, so hearing the same old gets tiring quickly. especially since 90% of the comments are just thrown in there and dont always make sense, let alone immerse you. but i need the commentator on so i can hear which player has the ball. meh.

overall its a nice improvement over WC, and worth playing for the new physics alone. with heaps of tournament options it has a much longer replay value than WC so am looking fwd to taking liverpool into the other leagues just for fun. hopefully they'll improve coz using those ty analogue sticks the reds havent managed too many wins yet. still, losing is still fun and thats the sign of a good game imo.

4 balls out of 5.

especially at half the price!! im interested to see how sony's motion sensor controller thingy works in comparison...

theres also a hyrid PC-console in the works by someone. sounds intriguing. is meant to play PC games, but with the ease and speed of a next gen console. interesting if nothing else.

Envizions announces its hybrid system will go on sale October 20 for $679.95; loads of features promised.

The past few years have seen several attempts to marry the vast library of PC games with the ease of play of a console. Infinium Labs has been trying to launch its much-maligned Phantom system for years (though it does have a release window scheduled for the system's lapboard attachment). Meanwhile, Digital Interactive Systems' DISCover software promised to let users play PC games on their TVs as easily as console games. DISCover did hit the market (even Alienware made a home theater PC using the software), but it hasn't caught on.

Now Alabama-based Envizions Computer Entertainment Corporation is trying to achieve what Infinium and DISCover haven't with its EVO: Phase One system. The company has announced details for its hybrid system, including a launch date and price. Envizions expects EVO: Phase One to be available October 20 for $679.95.

According to the system's official Web site, the device will act as a DVD player, PC, and Digital Video Recorder, and it will play PC games (offline and online) and customized EVO: Phase One games. It will also provide downloadable movies, previews, anime, and more through the Akimbo video-on-demand service and will include biometric security features (fingerprint scanning to save and access saved data), an 80GB hard drive, a 2GHz AMD Athlon 64 3200 processor, and a liquid cooling system.

EVO: Phase Two is advertised on Envizions' site as shipping in 2007, with Phase Three following in 2008. The company is currently accepting payments for preorders for Phase One and promotional "Evo it!" scratch-off cards through PayPal. The cards (which come in bundles of five for $5) offer a chance to win $10,000 or a Phase One system.
