LAdazeNYnights
Caught 13 Assassins last night. WOW. Holy that was amazing.
See this. Please go see this. If you're lucky enough to be in a city that it will be playing in do yourself a favor and go see it in the theater - well worth the money to see it on the big screen.
Miike is such a fantastic director. I caught the movie with a japanese girl that i'm really good friends with and, even though she had previously said "i hate samurai movies", she totally loved it. It's 2 hours long, and somewhere between 45 and 90 minutes will have you on the edge of your seat. So many great japanese actors in the film - a couple that I recognized and even more that my friend recognized.
Early on, when they were gathering the samurai for the mission, a few showed up and declared their loyalty to the leader (Koji Yakusho). He responded: "You have trusted your lives to me. I will spend them at my discretion."
I want to see it again.

got a chance to watch Hanna
The good: the girl "hanna" was a badass, kicking everyone's asses with guns; good action sequences; the chemical brothers; the photography of finland in the beginning of the movie
The bad: cate blanchett couldn't sell herself as a corrupt cia person; eric bana looked stiff
The ugly: the movie flow was too slow; the family who picks up hanna were awful, and couldn't blend in the storyline well
overall, good movie. predictable standard for an action flick, but the chemical brothers sold me. good to see joe wright diversify his portfolio a bit (pride and prejudice, atonement, the soloist)
:p
Meat187
Watched Limitless because its premise reminded me of the best book ever, John dies at the End. However the movie lacks all of the good stuff from the latter. It's somewhat entertaining but full of uninteresting cliches and has a stupid ending. Ironically, what the movie doesn't have is any sort of cleverness or any attempt to really break some limits.
Amduscias
Watched RIO yesterday, it was AWESOME
I've always been a sucker for Samba, so they had me at the first 2 minutes of the movie....

And I liked the British family. The scenes with them were funny. Come on:whip:
Maybe this was just me. But I think the actress who plays Hanna is beautiful. I'd tap it:sadgreen:

That movie is ing great, it's actually not a 'spoof' movie at all, it's a true horror movie, it simply takes a little more to see it as such.

i don't remember them saying sweden, but if you look at the closing credits, it states they shot parts of the movie in finland.
