The Arrival, on the other hand was absolute tosh. Baffled by the critical adoration it's apparently receiving.
Hmm, thanks i guess, was about to head out this weekend to see it.

3% is, by far, the most Brazilian thing I've ever seen.
Not sure foreign audiences will enjoy it as much as we do, but if you crank Brazilian society up to eleven and set it in the future, that's EXACTLY what you get. The hyper-rationalisation, the will to organise everything just to mess it up right afterwards, the social inequality, a cast so diverse you'd mistake it for a Benetton advert... it's all there.
Granted, it's full of flaws, but that's Brazilian too :D

Turned a friend on to "Predestination" this last week. He loved it. I watched it again so we could discuss it. I'd forgotten just how much I enjoyed it.
By the way, is there a Finnish film you'd recommend? I've seen some Swedish flicks, but I don't think I've ever seen a movie by a Finn...

I saw the new Blair Witch in the theatre when it came out and I thought it was ing terrifying.
I watched Nocturnal Animals today and it was excellent. Great performances from Adams, Gyllenhaal, and particularly Michael Shannon (I just love him). I really enjoyed the multiple layers and thought it was really well executed. The overall effect certainly had impact, imo. The final scene was just so, ooooh damn! As I'm sure was the goal.

Rogue One anyone?

Been watching a slew of cinema releases recently *cough* *kodi* *cough*. I'm getting pretty good at reading Korean subtitles though.
The Accountant; Nonsense but good nonsense, basic action yarn and Afleck pulls it off.
Inferno - really quite mundane, nothing that the first film didn't do a hundred times better and it wasn't exactly high art either, also nothing that 12 monkeys didn;t do in a more interesting way.
Jack reacher - Good cast, and fairly well acted but quite forgettable which is a shame becuase the first one is actually pretty decent for a action thriller yarn.
However, what I am REALLY ing disappointed at is the trailer for Alien:Covenant. It looks like just schlock scifi horror. I'll hold off full judgement as first trailers never do justice but it's looking like a return to the other sequels (alien 3 and 4) rather than prometheus which was really ing intriguing...

I thought that the first 2/3 of The Accountant was decent, the rest was boring. Inferno was indeed bad. I didn't like the first Jack Reacher so I'm not going to bother with the second if it's worse.
Rogue One wasn't bad, some of the gripes I read people had about it seemed unjustified. The two CGI faces in it was horrible though.
