It might be one of those "it's so bad it's good/funny" movies though.
Unlike Ouija which was just ing bad.

A GOOD horror movie I watched recently was Absentia. A hidden low budget gem!

I'll look into it. I'm addicted to horror movies these days.

Rewatched a few old gangsta movies recently: South Central, Above the Rim, Juice: back in the day when these movies actually had some positive moral messages.
Also rewatched Oliver Stone's U Turn today. Good stuff.

Just got back from "It Follows," and it deserves much of its praise, though certainly not any of the associated hype. There's a great deal to appreciate from a movie-making perspective: it's crafted with an eerie surrealism that surrounds each frame from beginning to end, and is both written and shot with a great deal of suspense (some of the tightest, smoothest cinematography I've ever seen), but I found it just plods and meanders from scene to scene without ever firing off. I'm happy to say it mostly avoids the modern cliches of the genre, but I think it's ultimately scary ideas that make for a scary movie, and the ideas here are just too shallow and vague to ever flesh out into something terrifying.
That's not to say it's in any way a shallow movie; you're going to hear all kinds of interpretations, and mine is that it's about the perils of sexual maturation, but it never achieves the depth that's necessary to support the film in a satisfying way. That said, it has a terrific, homage-laden original score that should appeal to some of the original soundtrack enthusiasts among us (SYSTEM-J, I'm looking in your direction):
Finally saw this today; pretty nice and unique retro horror flick, a la 80's. The score, as you mention, is very nice, indeed. Overall, the movie could've been better, as it does plod along, but it's still better than many other recent horror movies.
This one's probably my favorite piece from the score:
*SPOILERS*
There were at least a couple of scenes I really disliked, which deviated from the whole retro feeling of the movie: the scene where the guy gets flung back in the beach, and the scene with one of the "followers" throwing electrical equipment at the protagonist in the pool. Both seemed very out of place and rather artificial with the whole retro style, and all. The first scene with the dead girl was quite brutal and had me anticipating some serious , but unfortunately it then plods along. Still and all, not bad and definitely worth a watch.

Blackhat was pretty good, its all about cybercrime and hacking. Just came out for rent and buy.
Redd
I disagree. It's at best average as a generic action movie and awful as a movie about cybercrime and hacking.
