i don't want to be the guy who jumps the gun and makes that comparison. :stongue: i guess we'll see in a couple of months.
btw, is anyone else really psyched about the movie 'Black Swan' coming out later this year / early next year? i heard this is just as f'd up as 'Requiem', maybe more. |

probably not in the theater i was at. i did see the trailer(hopefully it's the same one) on tv you posted a couple of posts up. just plain sick i have to say. i really do hope the movie doesn't turn out to be a dud, because based on the trailers itself, it just looks fantastic.
the trailers i got were:
Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Shrek part i have no idea. hopefully this is the last one in the series.
Super 8
The Last Airbender |
Super 8 look any good? I like most of Abrams stuff.
edit: nevermind, just read your previous post |

| Renzo |
Has anyone seen Bad Lieutenant with Nicolas Cage? It was widely well-received, but I wasn't a big fan. Eh.
Although Eva Mendes might be reason enough to watch any film. |

It's not that good. More hype than it's worth, IMO.
Interesting maybe, but not that good at all. |
Yeah, it's pretty hard to get over the amateurish time-travel laws that it's governed by. |

Wut? Are we talking about some strange director's cut here? The one I saw never explained anything about time-travel laws. |

Although there is a Director's Cut where the time-travelling laws in it are allegedly explained in more detail, I was not talking about that version. There's bits and pieces scattered through the original movie, mostly read from the "Philosophy of Time Travel" book that the teacher hands to Donnie. And they are quite amateurish. :p
I don't want to be rude but I must ask...you do realize the movie is about a vortex in time/space that creates a loop which Donnie closes in order to save the universe, right? :p |

One of my all-time favorites. |

I liked it quite a bit. Nicolas was great at being a total sketchbag cop, I was quite surprised. Maybe its because he wasn't really acting. |

And you read that book on the DVD or the internet I presume. To answer your absolutely rude question, for which I'll hate you for eternity, yes, I know, since I read it, too. I just choose to ignore it as it's not directly a part of the movie. The movie is great as it is and if the makers want to ruin it with some retarded explanation they can right off. The time travel is their interpretation, I have mine, and I'm right, as usual. :D
Also, how exactly can you be amateurish when it comes to time travel? It's not like there was a "right way" or some obvious things you could do wrong with something defying our knowledge of physics. It can be retarded, unimaginative and pointless (and almost always is in movies) but I'm not sure I get amateurish... |

| Everything is pretty amateurish since Primer. |

| Silky Johnson |
| You need to watch the original Bad Lieutenant, with Harvey Keitel. Pretty ed up. |

Actually I never bothered to read it. It's rather evident from the movie, anyways. :p
What I meant by "amateurish" is that it reeks of unfamiliarity with the subject of time travel and that it's very unpolished. Portals through time can be opened through water? C'mon, that's really lame. :p
That being said, I actually enjoyed the movie. |
