I thought Up In The Air was pretty decent, not great, Solid screenplay and Clooney is terrific, of course, but I think the acting of Anna Kendrick left something to be desired. Maybe she was out of her league in a film with Clooney.

I simply did not care for her acting. Maybe that ruined it a little for me.

I quite agree. I thought it was going to be absolutely gash, but was pleasantly surprised how it kept my interest throughout. Of course, the peasant desire to see authoritative public servants violently murdered was definitely at play, but there was a kind of floaty poetry to its message that I enjoyed.

I wrote about Law Abiding Citizen some time ago and said something like "It had the potential to be a very good movie and also a highly reflective one based on the moral grey area it was built on. However, they dropped the ball when it was perfectly clear that Gerard Butler's character had lost his sanity."

woah woah there cowboy. you can't bash american beauty like that. well for one, it was clearly better than 'the cider house rules','the green mile','the insider', and 'the sixth sense' (which i still don't see why the movie got a nomination. not a new concept). also, the movie has a nice artistic touch that i liked. :D

what!? no WAY it was better than The Insider.

I agree entirely - it was a very flawed film, but a good movie. It did have the nice effect of inciting some interesting conversation throughout though - means to me they did more right than wrong to me.
