I watched Serenity (2019).
I won't ruin it but ouch. What were they thinking. |

| endgame. first superhero film i've seen at the cinema since nolan's batman i think. massively disappointing given infinity wars' excellent setup. definitely better than the new star wars' 2 entries but , that's a low bar. |

The critics have been kind to it overall but there's virtually nothing that could get me to see one of those terrible product placement commercials pretending to be a movie.
The only slightly related thing I'll consider going to see is the new joker movie. |

Ive only seen one 'new' movie lately, and it was Take me to the River, which I have no idea why I got ahold of in the first place, I think maybe I was thinking of watching it with my ex, I dunno.
It was a mindf!ck and a half, though.. Weird thing is, I couldn't hear that the first line was "so we're not gonna tell them i'm gay" as I was more interested in the pizza in front of me, so I was wondering what the deal was, I thought maybe he was trans or something. SO I was real surprised when it went all super-incesty and cp'y. I mean go for it if you wanna see the youngest kid from Louie totally grind all up on an overtly pedo-y bathing scene at that there river, but if you think that might scar you for life, I'd say stay away - the story is really great, but I don't think most people could stomach it, and I guess most that do don't even get many of the layers of disturbing that is packed within the movie. A lot of things are all but flat-out said, and theyre only spreading the layer of hint real thick, so Ive seen reviews not even picking up on what I see as the major plot twist at the end, but I guess yeah, if there are anyone who might enjoy this movie, theyre likely a member here. |

Midsommer is a heartwarming love story captured in the lushes fields of Sweden. Strangers are accepted as family and everyone is loved and cherished as one of their own. It will leave you with fuzzy feelings inside. Not to be missed:

| Didn't want to watch a movie over 2 hours, so watches Nomis (Night Hunter). Good movie, but it could have been better, especially with such a talented cast. It did have an unexpected twist. |

| Alright we finally saw Joker and yes, it was very good. I was wrong, it didn't suck - and despite having a pretty good idea of what to expect going in, I found the whole take on not only The Joker, but Gotham and even the Bruce Wayne/Wayne family/Batman deal, quite refreshing. A few little tweaks/quirks of his behaviour made for a compelling character - man Joaquin nailed it, very impressed with how he made The Joker his own. Loved the parallels being drawn to Batman's first appearances in Gotham and how the city reacted. I'm not going to comment on the obvious social and political commentary, but I will say I did find some of the scenes very disturbing. Someone in another thread mentioned the score and I fully agree, so so excellent. AND the music. |
