| It saddens me that Dune may be bad. :( |

| Hey, judge for yourselves. Like I said, plenty of people online seem to have liked it. I was bored senseless. |

The new Dune wasn't bad but it wasn't awesome (as I was hoping for). I'm a little biased because I like the 80's version with Sting, Jean Luc Picard and the guy from Quantum Leap. I also preferred the fighting scenes when they turned on their shields in the first/original as well. I remember watching it as a kid and thinking "how cool" it would have been to have my own shield!
If this new version of Dune was my first experience, I would have thought it might have been good. |

Well I like going in with a proper critique to think about. Keeps the fan girl blind love in check lol. |

Exactly! I, too, always enjoyed the David Lynch version as a guilty pleasure. Being born in 76 makes me a grateful child of the 80s, lol.
I was hoping this reboot would be at LEAST as good as the Lynch version, but with today's modern visuals, cinematography, and scope. Even if it has all those things, but lacks what the Lynch version has, then it's like you described, Jack. I will eventually watch it, but I'm not going to go out of my way to see it before it's out on UHD BD.
Soggy day in TN today. We're getting a low pressure system that's supposed to potentially cause historic tidal flooding in the Baltimore and DC areas. Hopefully everyone weathers that okay, but on paper it sounds bad. |

| Oscars tonight and I hope Dune gets nothing. It was boring as and Jack was right. I watched it twice this past week just to be sure. Way too heavy on the attention to atmosphere and mood, and it wasn't the right atmosphere or mood. Lol. |

Technical awards, fair enough. Happy it did not take screenplay (further, DIRECTOR) since that's where the film the bed the most.
I did love Power of the Dog and am glad Campion won director. Imo could have taken cinematography, I certainly was rooting for it.

| I was really expecting total disappointment with Dune, having grown up with the OG 80s film. But, although the pacing was somewhat glacial, I actually enjoyed it. I think it breaks at the appropriate place. This may be unpopular, but I'm looking forward to the conclusion. Visually speaking...we've come a long way since the old 480i days. Watching this in 4K/UHD and HDR at home is fabulous. |
