LENEXA, Kan. -- After weeks of speculation and days of intense rumors, the answer to who Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama would name as his running mate may have come down to a bumper sticker printed in Lenexa.
KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reported that the company, which specializes in political literature, has been printing Obama-Bayh material. That's Bayh as in U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana. Word leaked out about the material as it was being printed up by Gill Studios of Lenexa. The Obama campaign had said it would make the announcement by text message on Friday.
Gill Studios would not confirm information about the material. They would not deny it either.
"We're very disappointed that you would spread this rumor," Gill Studios President Tom Carrico said.
"You didn't print it here?" Mahoney asked.
"I didn't say that. But I'm very disappointed that you would come out and interview us and ask for confirmation and we said we would not confirm," Carrico said.
"Or deny," Mahoney said.
"That's correct," Carrico said.
Mahoney reported that at least three sources close to the plant's operations reported the Obama-Bayh material was being produced.
Bayh has a reputation as a fiscally conservative Democrat. Bayh endorsed Hillary Clinton and it is believed that he could help the Obama ticket by delivering a key battleground state.
Obama has arranged a joint appearance for Saturday with his running mate at the state Capitol in Springfield, Ill.
mccain can bait just about everyone with bringing up 9/11, terrorism, middle east. all the uneducated folk will buy it simply because of 9/11. funny thing is, no matter how ing horrible the economy goes if mccain gets elected, americans will still follow him simply because he knows that using hard hitting emotional tactics (9/11, middle east, terrorism, 'evil') works a ing charm.
annnddd, we'll still be putting more into the pockets of the rich and less into those that need it. how's that for being united. this country has been living, eating, breathing and ting hypocrisy for a damn long time now. i'm just waiting for someone to press the self-destruct button

McCain gave the simple answer. Obviously Obama could not give a similar one, since he is pro-choice and the pro-choice position involves actually trying to balance the rights of two parties rather than simply saying "protect human life from conception, always."
People like simple stuff. Simple ideas sound principled and firm and neat -- but the world will always be complex and messy regardless of how clean and simple your view of it is; something a lot of people would rather not consider.
Thats one of the prime examples that has fueled my opinion.
That and McCain's "defeat evil" thing.
Obama's abortion explanation where he said "I don't think women make these decisions casually" was probably one of the greatest things a politician in his position has ever said on the subject.
No one gives a though...

THe only way for McCain to win is to put fear in the minds of voters. Remind them of Iran's fake threat, remind them of the resistance groups in Lebanon and Palestine by labeling them terrorist groups, remind them of September 11th...

I really don't agree. I think MeCain might win because he is clear and succinct about what he wants to do, what he will do. He really appeals to the average American and let me remind you that the "average" American has not attended college or university, wants to own and likes to play with guns and drive SUVs or big trucks, and doesn't particularly want to help poor people or black people even if he may also be helped in the process. The "average" American is why Bush was elected in 2004.
Obama, like many intellects, really needs to learn the power of "short and sweet." His worst enemy at this point seems to be himself.
This is of course only in the opinion of an objective outsider.

Chrissi you are 100% dead on.

He doesn't need to put the fear in anyone. We've already been bombarded with it since 9/11. All he has to do is play on it, which he is.

Agreed. I'm sorry to say that the average American is disconnected from the reality of the world, of the powers that be, of the enormous suffering at the hands of brutal occupations which are done in my name and paid for by my tax dollars. Americans are very well indoctrinated, I guarantee you that. This is the only reason Bush could have won twice, or even that McCain even stands a chance at beating Obama. I think Obama is biding his time. After the Democratic convention, the race will then kick into overdrive. This is probably why Obama chose to go on vacation to Hawaii last week, because the real race is about get started.

The reason I brought up that boob Clark is because of the rediculous hipocracy of him backing up Obama with that statement. Every argument Clark made can be applied more to Obama than to McCain because, what has Obama actually done? This quote sums it up best:
But Clark uses McCain's military record to discount him? lol
McCain uses his military record to qualify himself for the big job so of course Clark (and any body else who has the ability to step back, look at the big picture and think critically) should point out that McCain's military record does NOT in any way qualify him and in fact it should probably disqualify him because and this is an important because, because when McCain was a POW his country walked away from the conflict leaving him and how many others in a hostile country, in pain, and in the end, left him with the realization that the pain was for naught and for that reason, he wants to stay in Iraq (even if it takes a 100 years); he wants to win, if only to make a point that has no import.
What happened to McCain is very sad. I empathize. Everyone should. BUT it is not reason to stay in Iraq til the bitter end. Winning is not everything. It really isn't. It means nothing when you sit down and say, hey, we said we were going in there for these reasons. Well, guys, none of those reasons held true. You don't just make up new reasons for why you are there especially when you are occupying a country where the people distrust you (why shouldn't they), dislike you (why shouldn't they)...
Just leave.
Get Syria and Iran and Turkey and Egypt to do whatever it is you are trying to do. At least, they don't represent materialism, evil, dishonesty, arrogance, and whatever else it is that you have come to represent not because of what you are but because of how you comport yourselves.
So yes, imo, McCain's experiences actually work against him if you look at it objectively. He has an agenda. As did Bush.
You need someone different. You need someone who is willing to think, to be rational, to listen, to negotiate. Obama thinks. He reasons. He makes sense. He is rational. He listens. He seems willing to work with people, to talk to people, to negotiate, to validate...what could be more important?

Chrissi that post will fall on deaf ears. Been there done that.
Additionally, another reason why Obama is going to lose:
That is an attack ad worthy of McCain's camp.
Obama promised a different kind of politics, but I have yet to see anything "different" about his campaign tactics.

Yeah.
I was never really enamored of him like so many people seem to have been, though; I just like him better than McCain.

Thats always been my thing. I just like him better than McCain. I know he's the better choice for a variety of obvious reasons.
His speech on racism was fantastic. Anyone that thinks about such issues with that kind of depth should be president. People say speeches don't count for much but IMO they should count for everything.
