Well, they probably say that because very few politicians write their own speeches, so the quality of the speech may not reflect the quality of the intellect.

I think it would be nice if politicians and candidates were required to write their own speeches.

That's true, but that's not Obama. He doesn't reason, he parrots. He definitely doesn't make sense because he's still so vague, nobody knows exactly where he stands on things... watch how the polls sway and that's where he goes. What people, other than like minded far left leaning liberal dems does he seem willing to work with? Say what you want about McCain, but at least he crosses the aisle... what piece of legislation has Obama ever worked on with those who don't believe exactly as he does? He's willing to negotiate... with rogue america hating dictators with no preconditions, but he won't visit U.S. troops in the hospitals. You all love his story and want to believe it, just like everyone wanted to believe John Edwards heart warming story... but where is the substance? Can anyone give me 3 achievements that he's had which qualify him for this job? 1 achievement? |

Very real criticisms raised by both Clovis and Chrissi, I'm just not sure I think that it's as far gone as either of you do at this point.
Still, this election is far from a sure thing for Obama - thankfully I think McCain will do a better job at digging his own grave than he will at providing the simple answers people actually want to hear. ;) |

I'm trying to keep my expectations really ing low here. :p
I remember going to France before the 2004 election and everyone asking me if Bush had a chance, and I was like "no way...after everything he's done, no way"
