His reference to his grandmother is probably accurate. Many whites don't understand the issues involving racism today, nor do many whites understand what black issues are. If you think race isn't a problem today, then you haven't been following this campaign.
People blow his comments completely out of proportion, and they don't understand that what he is saying (while people don't want to hear it) is correct. Most grandparents still do typical "grandparents" things. They have a traditional mindset. Do you really think he is saying things at this point to please blacks? He has strong black support, he's saying things to please whites who still have a problem with the issue of your ing skin color.
I personally think Obama has been taking a dive given the Rev. White issue. He should have handled the press before the story got leaked. He should have started the story, not let the story find him. I guess we will see what the repercussions were in a few weeks. We've already seen his polling numbers drop against Clinton and when matched up versus McCain. Although damage control has gotten the slope back to a straight line which is a good sign. |

belongs to a racist church for 20 years. denies that he has heard any of the comments from his reverend and then gives a speech admitting he has. says the most hurtful thing he has heard is racial epithets from his grandmother when his reverend has said tons of things worse than that and to think the outside people have only heard a few clips. and jon stewart is not funny. i feel bad for anyone who thinks that he or colbert are. should have stuck to geico commercials and left it at that. people always talk about how bush is a liar, but this guy can't even tell the truth about his church and the people surrounding his campaign, you think he will tell the truth about other things? seems like MORE OF THE SAME instead of that change bull that gets pushed down everyones throat. oh and how about his wife saying this is the only time she's been proud of america? what's funny about the whole thing is that sean hannity of fox was talking about his church for a while and no one seemed to pay attention, but i guess left wing media saw snl and suddenly decided to report both sides of the story on obama which in this case exposes him deeply. |
