Maybe, just maybe, Hillary is neither crazy nor thinks she can win. Maybe I'm just a foreigner that is giving her the benefit of doubt due to my inexperience but, maybe, just maybe she does know she can't win. However, even if that's true, retreating is not the only choice. Maybe she wants to be seen as "the woman that stands strong in spite of all adversities", and is looking forward to a future election. Then, she will be able to claim that she didn't leave Bill Clinton when his love affairs came to public light, that she didn't give up her hopes in this presidential race, and that... well, God knows what her stubbordness will lead to in the future.
What do you guys think? |
I think that's a really polite way of calling her a complete ing idiot. ;) |

So Russert is claiming Hilary canceled a bunch of morning show appearances, but the Clinton camp was claiming she was never booked.
She also just loaned herself another 6 million.
There is absolutely no good that can come out of this continued exercise in futility, regardless of why anyone thinks it's taking place. She's done, and at this point she really is the only thing left that is hurting the party.
It's not Obama's skin color, it's not Reverend Wright, it isn't Rezko, nor is it the Weather Undergound - no measure of any of those issues is going to bring Hilary the nomination. Her only stake in continuing to run seems to be to torpedo the Obama campaign, unless someone else can provide me a reason I'm just not seeing now. |
I completely 100% agree with you. Like I said, to Hillary, it's her or nobody. Im sure she'd rather have McCain in office at this point so she can say "I told you so." |

To be honest, I really, really wish someone would come in here and offer me any better reasoning for her to stay in the race - because now that this all seems as blatantly petty as it does, her remaining in the race is just becoming like a serious slap in the face to me, the rest of the democratic voters, and to her own party. |

Anyone still donating money to her campaign must be legally retarded. |

That's the beauty of it all though, Clovis - no one who matters, nor anyone who has a significant amount of money to give, is still giving her money - hence the 6 million dollar loan she made to herself yet again this month.

I don't think there is any other reason. She cannot possibly win outside of some backroom deal with the superdeligates which would be a disaster for the Democratic Party. At this point if Obama doesn't get the nomination his supporters will see it as him being screwed by Clinton and the Democratic Party elite. I would bet money that his supporters would break from the party in large numbers and either refuse to vote for a presidential candidate or would vote for McCain in protest.
I think since the start of her campaign Hillary has seen herself as the heir to the throne because her husband was President. She had a taste of the power of the office when Bill was President and now she wants that for herself. I think she is arrogant enough to dismiss Obama as just a first term Senator who, compared to her with her two terms plus 8 years as First Lady, is not qualified to be President no matter what the voters say.
Honestly, I think she really blew a golden opportunity here. Had she bowed out and endorsed Obama months ago when he was ahead after all the major primaries the Democratic Party would be operating as a cohesive unit by now. Obama could have spent the last couple months focusing on McCain and issues important to the election. If Obama looses in November Hillary would clearly have been the Democratic frontrunner in 2012 having won good favor with lots of Democrats for sparing the party the fight that is going on right now which will likely cost their candidate the election in November. Instead, if Obama looses a large number of Democrats are going to blame that on Clinton and I don't think there is a hope in hell of her getting the nomination in 2012.
At a minimum she got some really bad direction from her political advisors who have told her to stay in the race because she can win. At worst she is so arrogant that she thinks the Presidency is her right and nobody will be able to get in her way. Either way I think she has really screwed herself as well as Obama. When McCain wins the first person he should call to thank should be Hillary because she is making things a hell of a lot easier on him. |

I hooked up with one of her campaign staffers last month. I felt dirty afterwords - like I'd contributed to the campaign in some way.
