| Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus have yet to report - it seems there was a problem in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland), and votes may not get reported until 4 AM... that county alone represents 12% of the voting-age population in Ohio, so it's gonna be a long night. |

At least it's midterms for me, so it was going to be a long night regardless. ;)
I'll be up. |

| I'm all excited cause there's a thunderstorm in DC right now... and this is like the first one I've ever seen here. So yeah, I won't be sleeping anytime soon. |

Eh, I meant to quote RJT's post.
I meant I won't be going to sleep, so I'll be watching election returns instead.
And Ohio was called for Clinton. |

Yup, saw that - but with only 20% of precincts reporting, so I haven't the foggiest what that means.
The exit polls for today were clearly very, very flawed. Obama is losing TX now too. :(
Edit: Nevermind, 68%. :( |

The exits I saw had him losing both - they even had him losing among males in Ohio which meant certain death. The NAFTA thing killed him this week. I don't know if it is true that the McCain campaign collaborated with the Canadian Prime Minister's office on that one (which has been reported), but if true, it may have been more effective than McCain had expected. |

However, the urban precincts have yet to report in Texas either. From The Atlantic Monthly's blog:
| quote: | | 9:58 CST: Many of the early vote "precincts" in Texas have largely been counted, and the election day precincts are beginning to allow Hillary Clinton to close the margin with Barack Obama. But a lot of the bigger counties haven't counted their early votes yet, so the margin could widen in Obama's favor again. |

The only one I saw was on CNN which had him 60/40 over Clinton.
I really don't understand how this all came down this way though - Clinton was self destructing at a record pace until this past week, and now all of a sudden she's winning two of the biggest primaries in the country... :conf: |

Texas was going to be a dogfight - demographically it isn't easy on a black candidate.
In Ohio, the Rezko and NAFTA stories resonated pretty strongly with the blue collar crowd, which hurt Obama a good deal. And I imagine Hillary's humor by going on SNL and the Daily Show probably did something in the way of reversing negative opinions of her personality as frigid.
She had a very good week, while Obama was working on beating back bad press. |

Which in itself is ing absurd because the "bad press" Obama got had nothing to do with legitimate policy or political positions, it almost all seemed to have to do with people propagating half-truths or lies about him, and his campaign having to clarify the truth of the matter.
God I ing hate the American political process (and whatever sense of "fairness" it seems compelled Stewart to humanize Clinton last night - I may never forgive him for that). :( |
