I didn't like that my vote didn't count for diddily poo, but this Texas saga is fun to watch.

Which in itself is ing absurd because the "bad press" Obama got had nothing to do with legitimate policy or political positions, it almost all seemed to have to do with people propagating half-truths or lies about him, and his campaign having to clarify the truth of the matter.
God I ing hate the American political process (and whatever sense of "fairness" it seems compelled Stewart to humanize Clinton last night - I may never forgive him for that). :(
Eh... normally I'd be inclined to agree - and a lot of the bad press Obama is getting lately is indeed crap (the Muslim thing, the patriotic pin thing -- lol:
Anyhow, the NAFTA thing is legit - he promised in the debate to re-negotiate the free trade agreement or possibly scrap it entirely, but then turned around and told the Canadian government that it was just "political rhetoric" - that doesn't bode well if true. The Canadian government seems very unsure of whether that actually took place or not though.
And the Rezko story might have some mileage - the GOP is claiming that in 2004 Obama took $100,000 in donations from a slum lord who ripped off his tenants and is likely headed to jail... I doubt that Obama is involved at all, but he is certainly being tarnished by association.

To be fair on the first account I'm not going to take hearsay as evidence, and on the second - hasn't this all played out already? I mean I thought the Rezko deal was big news last Spring, and that to one degree or another an appropriate level of separation was found... :conf:
And either way - if those are the two worst skeletons in his closet he has Hilary beat by a mile. :p
I also find myself infuriated at the degree to which the Clinton campaign has engaged in negative campaigning, as well as its apparent effectiveness.

that's why you haven't heard much about them. Hillary's crooked as can be, and they've basically entered an unspoken pact not to demolish each other. Rezko is just the beginning.

the saga continues...
its harris county! w00t.. this drama is fun.. obama can win big if he keeps his 60-40 over clinton in harris county aka houston..

Sorry, I got distracted by a sovereignty debate in PDD - the Rezko case just went to trial yesterday, and there's speculation he might throw Obama under the bus to save his neck.
And the Canadian Prime Minister's Chief of Staff has confirmed a meeting with a top Obama adviser about NAFTA... but refuses to say if there was an actual promise that the NAFTA comment was pure political rhetoric.
In any case, Canada doesn't seem to be getting its message straight very well:

It just seems to be an issue of perception versus reality, and the reality of both situations seems far less serious (or at least far less certain) than the media has made it appear.
Unfortunately reality is generally also far less interesting than perception.

A wise man I knew once said that perception is reality. I think he was referring to sexual harassment in the workplace, but I think it translates well. :p
