b) being able to take a bus from the hotel to the venue would encourage people to stay at the casinos on the strip...

c) not sure why you'd need to make 'official' hotels. for CES they have a bus route that stops at every single casino to pick-up/drop-off people...

d) many many many many years ago at the Camel Desert Air Rave (best party ever!) they had nice buses running from the vacant lot across from the Luxor to the event...

I think pretty much every hotel is an official hotel during CES, hehe. There are over 30 official CES hotels.

If they are going to pick up at hotels, they (the private charters) have to setup a staging area with the hotel (a spot for people to line up where bus will people will pick up). The (most, at least) hotels just don't let charter buses show up and do this. It has to be setup with the hotel. And that's what I meant more of. Not necessarily official with contracted rates or anything, but it's not as simple as just hiring charter buses and saying pick these people up from said spot.

Now, it's Vegas and Vegas operates differently from other cities. But I do know the company I used to work for threw an event during CES years back and used buses, and it was a bit of pain for them to take care of getting spots near the major resorts where people could be picked & dropped off. Maye that's why the bus you talked about was from an empty parking lot ;P

of course i'm sure the bus companies would contact the hotels... i see it as a win-win for all parties.

that event i referenced was in 1996 or so... very different times. Though actually the Luxor was the official hotel for the event if memory serves...

Would be great if there was an official host hotel for EDC and then we could all stay there at a discounted rate. :)

Or more realistically, to know which hotel to avoid and not have to see shufflers 24/7 in the lobby
