Nah, from what I heard it was another generic Insomniac event full of douches and etards.
To even compare EDC to BM is blasphemy!
I think I will take my first hand experience over what you "heard" especially considering your posting history regarding Insomniac here. That goes for BM too. It was a very loose comparison that should have been obvious. But you can see there is a lot of BM influence at EDC. Or maybe rip off?

Keep hearing the event was fun, but yeah not worth the costs. Other than from GPC it seems.
No more expensive than any other weekend in Vegas. Probably cheaper. Drinks were cheaper at EDC than any LV club or pool party. We only went on Day 3 though.
Even though I thought the Day 3 lineup was amazing, I hate to say it but I was kind of disappointed by the sets. Oh well :(

i went all three days let me know what kind of questions you guys had. I would be happy to tell them from my point of view.

Edit 2: nope... lol
You know... I'm not completely sure what happened with the sound. Oakie actually seemed like he was quieter than some of the other performances going on right after him. I'm not really sure who to blame but his sound quality was bad live as well. Other than oakie, the stages sound quality was overall superb. Between all of the insomniac, go, goldenvoice. skills & spundae large events I've gone to this EDC had the most impressive sound delivery. Could have been slightly louder, but I'd rather have quality than another couple dB. I had to break out the ear plugs on sunday... so it was loud enough.

Actually I thought some new life was breathed into the scene with this edc. Simply because most of the people there had to travel a decent amount. You could see it all the way from san diego... there were a lot of cars with markings on them. The crowd definetly wasn't as social as it was 5 or so years ago. A lot of people were kind of minding their own business while having a good time. It however weeded out most of the LA douchebaggers that are always in exposition... which was fantastic.

if I remember earlier in the thread... how was the chopper?

I was also a bit disappointed with the sound system on the mainstage.
the bass on the stage was just TOO MUCH.
I mean, I love bass- but it was SO MUCH that I could barely hear the mids or the hi's in the songs.
the bass just drowned out the elements in most of the songs - i noticed this especially during above & beyond - they were amazing but the bass ruined it for me..

Chopper was well worth it on Sunday for sure. we flew in a little bit before Alesso came on.
Entering from the main gate vs flying in from a helicopter is a whole different experience. Both you need to try one time in your life.
Why are people comparing BM and EDC? I feel EDC is different but i rather go to EDC over BM just because you get to go back to your hotel which is better than a RV etc and its cheaper! =)

Does anyone know the song with the bag pipes that SHM and Chuckie kept playing? Also somewhere where I can download LBL set from Sunday?

2. LA screwed themselves.
3.To all the naysayers constantly spouting crap before the event, Insomniac just screwed you mom while you watched.
1. i suspect this is because of the ticket price, i assume it was the same level of vibe as coachella. no one wants to spend $300-1000 on an event and get kicked out for some dumb
2. yep
3. i'm not upset I didnt go, seems like the music was average (based on reviews and sirius' broadcast) except for a few acts (crystal method, umek, royskopp) :whip:

My only hold out now that i see they know how to make Vegas happen, is that the lineup wasn't announced till a few weeks before the event.
And i am strictly a trance listener....
So i would have been super disappointed with any other night that Sunday!
I would have bought Friday or Saturday tix if i had gone this year, then been pissed...
But waiting till the last second doubles the cost of going...
