There is more involved now than ever before, people need to plan for a trip instead of going to LA

That's true and not. I think more than likely people just blind buy with the hopes they can sell it off on E-Bay or Craigslist if they don't go. Certainly, the good majority of people do this, because that's the system in place. If the market actually stood up and demanded more information, the promoter would eventually have to give in. The market doesn't want to deal with it. It's a thing called apathy and has little to do with whether or not people are upset.

I dunno, with the emergence of breaks it's introducing a whole new population of people who normally would stick with Rock/Heavy Metal. Now these people get into breaks and then start to flow into all the other genres.

I agree that Insomniac should release more names before selling tickets for the same reason, but most of the tens of thousands of patrons don't care that the full lineups will be released later.

Does anyone know when most tickets are sold to events like EDC?

What fraction of tickets are sold within the first few days, and what fraction are sold a month or less before the event (when I assume more names will be released)?

I had the same idea for EDC a couple years ago, but decided it wasn't worth the effort at the time... probably could have made a lot of money.
