Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman Declares June 20-26 Electric Daisy Carnival Week
Insomniac CEO and Founder Pasquale Rotella Receives Official Proclamation
LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Jun 16, 2011) - This morning during his weekly press conference, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman welcomed Insomniac CEO and Founder Pasquale Rotella to the City and presented him with a proclamation declaring the week of June 20, 2011, as "Electric Daisy Carnival Week." North America's largest electronic music festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, will be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway June 24-26, 2011, with more than 200 artists/performers and more than 200,000 attendees expected.
"I am very honored and excited to be able to stand beside a true ambassador for the City of Las Vegas, Mayor Goodman," said Insomniac CEO and Founder, Pasquale Rotella. "Las Vegas has provided a wonderful welcome, and this proclamation -- declaring Electric Daisy Carnival Week -- only adds to the excitement as we prepare to welcome thousands of visitors to this City and to our festival next week."
Mayor Goodman praised Rotella for bringing the opportunity to Las Vegas, and for contributing to the community by donating $1 for each ticket and $10 from each guest list attendee to Las Vegas charitable organizations including the Clark County School-Community Partnership Program, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts and the Injured Police Officers Fund - Las Vegas.
Goodman, also known as the "World's Happiest Mayor," shared that Las Vegas' reputation as the entertainment capitol of the world makes Electric Daisy Carnival a perfect fit for the City. He welcomed the thousands of expected festival goers and is considering attending next week's festival. Rotella offered to send him some music in advance and welcome him personally to the three day event.
Creating a true carnival atmosphere, the festival will feature more than 200 performers, including dancers, fire twirlers, aerialists, and stilt walkers, plus 28 full size carnival rides and attractions that are free for all ticket holders. The 1,000-acre complex will be transformed into a fully immersive audiovisual experience as 13 large-scale art installations will create their own interactive environments amidst the six stages, along with state-of-the-art lighting and sound production. Attendees will also get to experience the most impressive pyrotechnics display in Insomniac's history, featuring a 15-minute fireworks display each night.
Tickets and table reservation requests are available at www.electricdaisycarnival.com.

Having worked at an EDM internet radio station that went bust due to lack of advertising, I hope this dispels the rumor that EDM fans are broke kids who can't afford anything. Even today, about the only commercial that I hear on Digitally Imported Trance channel is for "Rave Ready" clothing and some girl talking about her fluffy leg warmers (not that there's anything wrong with that, but I usually switch stations every time that commercial comes on since I work in an office).
EDM fans are everywhere, all walks of life, male, female, straight, gay, lesbian, bi, rich, poor, Beverly Hills shoppers on Rodeo Drive, people who can only afford something at the thrift store, race car drivers, casino owners, orphaned kids, MBA's, Harvard graduates, 7-11 clerks, etc., etc., etc. and they will light up the Vegas Strip like never before! :D |
