yeah, seriously. Our military efforts over there have resulted in the elimination of brutal dictator and continue to take out terrorists that would wipe this country off of the planet if given the opportunity.
You will not convince me that our military efforts over there haven't saved lives, and you won't convince me that Obama is a better presidential candidate than McCain. |

Alright?
So my response should be something along the lines of clapping my hands over my ears and yelling "NANANANANANANANANANANANANA" right? |

This sentence is at best naive, and at worst extraordinarily dangerous.
1. Al-Qaeda did not operate in Iraq prior to the 2003 invasion.
2. "Al-Qaeda in Iraq" is not the same entity as the al-Qaeda that orchestrated the bombing of the USS Cole, Nairobi and Dar es Salaam embassies, or the World Trade Centers attacks in 1993 or 2001. They associate themselves with Osama bin Laden for the purpose of funding only.
3. Studies suggest that the invasion of Iraq created more terrorists throughout the Middle East than it has killed or detained.
If you're going to make the argument that Iraq has saved countless American lives you need to substantiate your opinion with fact or else continue to face a high level of skepticism from people who have actually looked at the facts. |

| I'd only like to add that under this demented logic, the United States would be well served to invade Zambia if only because we could then cite the killing of the resistance that crops up as part of the global war on terror. |

Um, due to us "liberating" them it nearly caused a civil war within their country. Terrorist bombings and actions increased 10-fold if not moreso due to our occupation of Iraq. People may claim that Saddam was an awful and atrocious dictator, but maybe *just maybe* that is what the people in Iraq needed. Democracy doesn't work everywhere. Some people need dictators and eye-for-an-eye consequences.
Keeping in mind that under Saddam's stewardship you had a relatively healthy secular country that was one of the countries that was the furthest along technologically in the Middle East. Time will only tell if this new democracy we have enforced will be anywhere near as stable. |

I think you're giving the situation in Iraq over the past five years a pretty rosy hue. |
