I don't understand why being "new to the game of politics" is a bad thing.
As if the president acts like a king and makes every single decision without first consulting at least 5 other people.
Presidents surround themselves with people who aren't new to the game of politics, and Obama has already started doing so by picking Joe Biden.
Of course someone will say "lol george bush didnt listen 2 no one, rofl". Unlikely, he listened to his intelligence boys, Cheney, Rumsfeld and probably half a dozen other people who are good at their jobs before making one of the worst blunders of his presidency; invading i-Raq.
Can we please put this inexperience bull to rest, even with Sarah Palin, yes she is inexperienced, that's not the reason I don't want her in office. I don't want her in office because she seems corrupt, religiously insane and wouldn't ever admit to being wrong.
spacechica:
The Vice-President is largely symbolic in a lot of cases, but it could come to pass (and it has in American politics) that the Vice-President is forced to take over and that's what makes the pick fairly important still.
There is a very real possibility that there will be continuous threats on Obama's life and that of his family simply because he is black.
John McCain has had a history of somewhat poor health for quite some time, and he is fairly old by anyone's standards. Am I saying I hope he dies? No, but I AM saying that there is a chance that either Biden or Palin would have to take over at some point and that's what makes these VP picks important in this election.
Terms you'll understand:
McCain is old, like, Santa Claus old. Yes, he signs important papers that makes stuff change. If he dies, Sarah Palin becomes the president of the USA and then she goes crazy and makes everyone learn why Jesus is better than science and then she has a pillow fight with a number of oil lobbyists and no one cares because criticizing her is sexist.
For sakes, vote Obama. |

in a real world, things aren't perfect
given the external factors,
can't we put fear aside (as it is irrational)
and focus on the issues at hand? i mean, really, let's get REAL.
Socratic method, works well :D |

Yes, because the secret service helped Kennedy so much.
Oh, and they sort of helped Reagan, it was probably more of a luck thing that he wasn't shot in the head. |

My bull flag just went soaring. What, exactly, do you mean by the "Socratic Method", and how is that comment even remotely applicable here?
You seriously bat so many words around when in reality you don't even have a ing clue what it is you're saying. People are like you are a shining example of why democracy is a horrible idea - the dumbest people still get a voice, and they're usually the loudest.
Also, Lesbianosaur, that Friedman piece is epic - I actually got to meet him last Summer out in NY (he gave the commencement address at Myra's brothers graduation), really just a phenomenal individual. |

i mean, and please leave innocent bystanders out of this debate, (innocent bystanders like myself), when it comes to the political debates, let the Socratic method in all its grandeur, play out

in any case, assuming that Biden may become president just because of the fear that Obama may step down or something, is terrible
the secret service won't let any neo nazis try to get to Obama, that's my point
it's the 21st century |

Alright, I realize that we're not playing the "I have a degree" card anymore - and even though we've been over how utterly useless it is, I did get a degree in philosophy, and I'm telling you that however it is you're trying to sound intelligent right now, it's failing.
It's like nails on a ing chalkboard to see you use the phrase "Socratic Method", and just generally reading your posts.
Beyond that, there's nothing about you that can be defined as "innocent" or "bystander" - you spout nonsensical gibberish here nonstop and argue with more people than I do (no small feat). So you're either a worthless troll getting her kicks by playing the "I'm a dumb rich annoying Asian girl" card, or you're genuinely one of the least intelligent yet most self righteous idiots I have ever seen.
And remember, this is the time of the evangelical Christian right in America - and I think you're worse than all of them combined. |
