Who knows? Perhaps her ignorance of judicial history will merely add to her "average American" cred. We Americans have shown a decided preference for intellectually inert dunces.

This isn't the Supreme Court bit, but it was amusing. Apparently getting questioned on issues by a voter is just another case of liberal "gotcha journalism"!
Can McCain live any further from reality?

Only an elitist would demand that politicians be informed about the issues and answer questions when asked. True red-blooded Americans content themselves with politicians who radiate a folksy personality and have a few capable handlers.

alot of my friends re-elected dubya, when i asked them if they were out of their in mind they said "we're at war, he's the safe bet" and now look at where the "safe bet" has gotten us. 90% of the major current problems in our country are from the past 8 years. our country is filled with too many ignorant people and i'm not saying they're ignorant just because they hold a different opinion than i do, but they're ignorant because of their reasons for re-electing W 4 years ago. don't blame me, i voted democrat (the lesser of 2 evils then and now). i'm not a democrat, i don't consider myself anything, but i think we need a dem in the house right now. i have no beef with anyone who votes republican or otherwise just as long as they have a better reason than "it's the safe bet" shut the up with that

only if he lived in the same reality as the one George Bush lives in. you know, the alternate reality where we're not in a recession but might be in one soon. politicians are so out of touch with the average American it would be laughable if times weren't so hard right now

You guys know what I'm really, really enjoying about this election year?
The media seems to have taken a cue from the internet and been ready, willing, and able to fly the bull flag more this year than in any other I can remember.
The clips with Couric and Palin, and the other nonstop political gaffes made by the McCain campaign may not be getting as much coverage as they deserve, but for the most part they at least seem to be on top of saying "Hey, wait a minute - this Palin chick is an idiot!"
It's a long way from awesome, but at least it's entertaining - right?
Superstring
Maybe this Palin business is a clever tactic?
1. Pick someone that looks like they don't know what they are doing.
2. See your ratings slide down a bit
3. Wait till 3 weeks to election&
4. "Bow" to public pressure to change her to someone smart
5. Watch your ratings sky-rocket
6. Win.
