Uhh, bacteria are considered to be a form of life by any biologist worth the name. They have the same basic metabolic functions as any other kind of cell. All current life-forms evolved from bacteria-like organisms.

Why? :) Never seen this in any of the proposed "scientific" definitions of life.

Sorry, didn't make clear that I spoke about viruses only, not bacterias. You're totally right though :)
Thx, interesting read. Still haven't heard this in other discussions than ones about abortion. Not my field at all though :)
To be more on subject.. A long time ago, I read that Palin was against abortions even in the case of a rape. Is that still true? :wtf:

Yeah... this is more to the point on why she's terrifying. You can be against the use of abortion as birth control (I have a feeling 95% of the population is in agreement on that one), but in cases where the woman has been raped or is in danger of losing her life, that's a whole different ballgame - taking away that right is just plain radical.
edit: if you want to know the exact moment that John McCain lost the moderate female vote, here it is:

yes - she thinks all that's needed in cases of rape or incest is some "counseling" and then they should be all good.

Wow. Thanks for both clips. Just wow..:wtf:
A candidate with opinions like that would (luckily) not even get 0.1% in a Swedish election or in any other European countries to my knowledge.
Is the amount of "pro-life-bull"-people at least decreasing in the US?

I don't surround myself with pro-life issues and haven't studied or researched the scope of what else is out there but this Palin clip is pretty much the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on the topic. How anybody could say that incest and rape are not grounds for an abortion is downright absurd. And, I don't consider myself to be a proponent of either camp. For me, this has more to do with SENSE.
