You know guys... she has a point. Halloween is a pretty socialist holiday. Perhaps if we continue down the path of free handouts of candy to the young, they'll expect free handouts of jobs, cars, and housing when they grow up.
Socialist.

So yesterday I voted in "communist country" and it was an interesting experience.
I cast my early in-person absentee ballot in Arlington County yesterday, where I spent three and a half hours in line. After arriving at the county's administration building, a poll worker directed us to a plaza to get in line. We were told that once inside the building, the wait would be about two hours. When we reached the plaza, it was immediately apparent that we would be outside for some time.
We got in line and were immediately approached by a pair of Obama volunteers offering to discuss platforms and voting procedures. A quick look around the plaza showed that there were probably six Obama volunteers for every one McCain button we could see.
After calling all of my friends to report on the length of the line - mostly to convey the implied conclusion that this was a good sign for Obama - we slowly made our way through the plaza and into an adjacent apartment building's lobby before entering the administration building. This was my first time voting in person (a product of leaving my home state for college and finally switching my voter registration from Minnesota to Virginia this year), so I don't have any conception of what the lines are normally like. But this was impressive.
The atmosphere outside was almost fun. As people loitered in line, a musician (wearing Obama paraphernalia) entertained with Beatles covers, and local shops offered discounts on coffee and cookies for voters.
It was a respectful environment, which was encouraging, but also one in which I got the distinct impression that one political persuasion far outnumbered the other. Part of that speaks to location - Arlington is a young town. But part of it speaks to motivation - you have to be pretty dedicated to spend four hours of a beautiful Saturday afternoon in line waiting to cast a vote.
A polling official told us that 25% of Arlington County's registered electorate had already cast ballots as of Friday. Saturday added at least several thousand more. It seems that even moderate lines at the polls on Tuesday could result in huge turnout numbers in this part of the state.
After voting, we circled through the plaza outside to see if the line was any shorter. It was even longer. But the most remarkable thing about the line? I was there for about four hours, and though many people gasped and marveled at the number of people and the length of the wait, I didn't hear a single person complain. In fact, I think a lot of people savored it as much as I did.
It's really exciting to be part of turning a state blue.

Epic.
Also, that republican guy on the youtube video is negating himself so hard that it's hilarious.

Nice to see that you have lots of original ideas to add to this discussion. I can't wait to hear your opinion on Obama's radical Zionist form of Islam.
