I don't see how it could happen. Short of McCain inciting actual violence with his veiled insinuations of Obama's "otherness" - the election is over. I don't see how even an October surprise can change the momentum now. Obama's ahead for the first time on national security - a terrorist attack wouldn't even help McCain anymore because people trust Obama's steady hand over McCain's mavericky imbalance.

John McCain lost the election when he picked Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential nominee, and he has only compounded and double downed on the error since. The pundits blame the economy (which is an absurd argument given the fact that they're basically saying "if it wasn't for the fact that the President will have to deal with important issues, McCain would totally have a chance!") - but it's McCain's complete irrationality that did him in.

Obama hasn't made a single mistake this entire campaign. Not one.

Inertia takes him to the finish line with 300 electoral votes.

Well that is just terrific. I really hope the Secret Service has him on lockdown.

I wonder how the secret service will treat Obama.

Is the threat of a redneck with a rifle as real as some people think?

I think in his first term, you simply wont see him in public much, rather, outdoors.

I think the threat is greater now - there's still a chance a Republican might replace him.

100% Agree.

This is the first time I actually feared that an assassination attempt could be a somewhat realistic possibility. If he is to become president that is.

I wonder how many times the thought has crossed his mind as well?
