What has gone down by law enforcement officers this week has angered and disgusted me beyond belief, and I hope those responsible for these violations of basic human rights are brought to justice.

Why don't you go protest about it lolol

This is not a laughing matter.

I will definitely be calling my MP about this tomorrow (if I can even get through to her).

The police have been holding people at Queen & Spadina, and have been for over 3 hours, in the cold and rain without washroom breaks, no water, no food and no explanation of what is going on and when they will be allowed to leave. Their phones, cameras have been broken because of the rain. There are people in the crowd who were just passing by.

CP24 said that they were doing this to examine individuals and see if they can find and convict anyone who is on their "wanted list" for destructive acts from yesterday based on photographs/videos they have of the perpetrators....

although I personally think they are wasting their time and being completely irrational since todays protests were peaceful....

Oh man ... still no reply from my buddy yet. I think he's either still @ Q&S or Eastern Ave.

They were property bags, not evidence bags.

I think you have your sequence of events jumbled. The people detained over night on Saturday were from that day's protests. Today's "peaceful protest" which clearly had some violent elements as seen by the dbag who punched a cop in the face in one of the videos posted earlier in this thread - occurred out of the designated protest zone! As far as I'm concerned if you're not supposed to be there then you deserve what's coming to you.

And the whole protest at the detention center was unnecessary. Their buddies would've been released in no time anyway. It's all a part of the "catch and release" policy that the police implemented for such occasions as riots. Just because the chances of finding the perps are slim, doesn't mean that they shouldn't try.

9:40 p.m. Queen St.

At 9:40 a loud cheer arose from the crowd as police freed about 50 of the detainees, who then walked briskly east on Queen St.

"We did it," one shouted, waving his fist in the air. Others pulled out their cellphones as they called friends and relatives to say they were freed
