you are here to tell me that all those people in the streets of Tehran last were wasting their time standing up against the regime? they almost the brought down the entire regime on their own. Dont tell me protesting is isnt real action please.
Stop your babbling for two seconds and actually read his post. It's obvious that he finds protesting ineffective in our society. Which I agree with. In our privileged society there are more effective ways to bring about change than yelling on the streets. That said, I can apprecaite (and I can only assume that rabbitjoker does as well) the need for protest in not so forunate countries, like Iran; where bodies on the street are prescily what's needed to bring about change--and not only does it work--but alas, often, nothing else does.
That said, CANADA IS NOT IRAN.

neither did I lol
so don't turn around on me either!
I have yet to say that - all I wanted is for you guys to realize that the protesting you're defending has achieved the opposite effect of what it was aimed for
and that was a waste of time
Rj has pointed it out perfectly - true believers will find the ways to make sure they will be heard. A bunch of punks with banners will never get anyone's attention other then "who the hell are these idiots? get them off my porch"

so out of curiosity, out of everyone arguing with Chem and I, who actually checked out G20 on any of the given days of the past weekend?

this guy is jokes. Foolish but jokes. He did commit a serious crime though. Impersonating a police officer is a really serious offence.

vote with your wallet, get involved in charities, and raise money.
isn't it ing obvious that the fact that they are unable to do this is the direct reason why they go into the streets? get off your ing high horse man

True but i hold Harper more accountable for this mess than McGuinty...especially after I read this quote from him:
quote:
Prime Minister Stephen Harper acknowledges that the G20 summit was an inconvenience to Torontonians, but says meetings like the one that took place in Canada’s largest city this past weekend are the only way world issues move forward.
yeah that's right....an "inconvenience"...guess its "Toronto's Pain, The World's Gain"....
check out something called the "ontario public works protection act" as amended june 2 2010 by premier mcguinty that gave the police the right to do what they did. Then get back to me about who should be accountable.
Harper should: compensate businesses damaged by vandals
McGuinty should: answer questions about why he amended the public works act and kept it secret as well as open an independent inquiry into police actions
Miller should: Call for an inquiry and demand an immediate resignation from Chief Bill Blair.
