I did on friday, but it was too early.
Then on Sunday took these pics:

Gardiner at 3PM

Just before bike rally

Bay and King

Cops stopped me and searched my backpack, but were very polite and even said thanks.

I found this video to be quite interesting..

After going through this thread coming in waaay too late it is something that the media is to blame. I am not sure how many violent protesters there were but 25k peaceful ones didn't really make the news.

If people want to protest effectively they should join forces and fight back in a non violent way. Actually if people were simply non violent to begin with that would protesting in a way since you force police to lose their jobs because there wouldn't be any crimes. There could however be a loop hole where the police couldn't lose their jobs but just be sitting around and eventually media or independent media would showcase them not working.

Lets hear the excuses for this one. Come on lets hear it. Police ed up BIG time and this will not just go down the memory lanes.

The protesters were illegally there....they do not have a right to take to the streets. Show me the permits they had to use those streets....they didn't have them. It is illegal and they can be arrested for it.

LOL... why has all the good stuff been heavily edited out? It only shows clipse of the arrests and diddly squat on leading up to it.

Remember the grey-shirt guy that was first to throw a punch at a cop which started it? The clip shows him being arrested, but him starting it was conveniently edited out.

Heavily edited videos like this is just plain propaganda. I prefer to see raw video from beginning to end.

You want to complain about how police handled this but lets look a past G20 protests and see how the police handled those.

I think Toronto police did an amazing job.

Because the city police were occupied by this stupidity all weekend, I wonder if any "normal crimes" around the GTA were allowed to get more out of hand than usual...

Really? I would think it could have been the opposite...a lot of searches going on, more risk to move stuff around the city?

you really are influenced by all of the anti-police propaganda.

lol. all of you think that it was just unprovoked. you don't know anything about police work. how much do you wanna bet that there were plain clothes cops listening in on everything those people were saying. maybe buddy was even bragging about how he smashed windows. or the girl was saying how she was ready to start something.

at the detention centre, the police gave them three 5 minute warnings to disperse and they didn't. just waited for the police to do something. didn't follow the leader guy's instructions at all. i watched it all live.

this is a very disturbing video from queen and spadina last night.
i defy anyone to watch this and conclude the police were justified in what they did:

It is appalling.

Did anyone read the interview with Bill Blair in the globe today? Re. this incident, he said people were asked to clear out so the police could apprehend those in the crowd that were not protesting peacefully, and then those that did not clear out were taken in.

I agree with Margs, in that it's likely many people refused to move despite being warned to leave. Not everyone, but some.
