I saw that clip, he wore uniform and displayed authority, so he was a target. |
Right, you don't think though that if regular protesters started doing that they'd get similar treatment?
Maybe so, maybe no but either way the cops should have been there and not let it get to that point, then maybe there wouldn't have been tons of unreasonable detaining and overreaction.
Some have said (earlier in this thread) and I think I'm paraphrasing that there's no such thing as overreaction when public safety is at risk but I say there is...there's a middle ground. We're not at war (not real war anyway). |

We spent a billion dollars on security. where were the Police to protect the stores and the their own Police cars? |
the billion spent on secutiy.. had absolutly NOTHING to do with keeping property or people safe.... the money was spent on making sure NOONE got near the fence or mtcc/intercontiental complex. |

You do realise that the form or protest you're against has had SIGNIFICANT impact on previous political movements in the past right?? |
you find me one government official who will state that people holding signs and walking down the street was what made them change their position on any issue. |

and what happens when that letter is ignored? |
and what do you do when holding up a sign is ignored....as I'm sure not one of the leaders at the G20 even has a clue what anyone was protesting about. |

Lately maybe not but in the past it DID have significant impact, who's to say we should abandon it now?
I'd use any and all means at my disposal (legally and peacefully) if I felt strong enough about an issue. |

a behind the scene look for youse guys |
