Considering what happened in last 2 days, CANADA=FAIL

I liken it to Harper being the geeky high school boarding school kid who wasn't part of the cool crowd... so, in an attempt to impress, he throws a crazy invite-only party at his parent's massive mansion during the summer, with Skipper spinning back to back with Jayx1. Kids from a local public school, who weren't invited, because they never liked Harper, find out about the party, put on their best black dress attire and try to crash it by uprooting trees, pissing in the mailbox, and setting fire to shrubs. After the weekend is done, the geeky high school kid goes back for another year at school... and his parents are stuck cleaning up the mess, paying for the damages, and trying to explain to their neighbours - who had family visiting from out of town - that the kids in the area are really peaceful, law-abiding citizens.

Just to get this straight, you're saying you'd assume everyone's guilty??

My fav quotes:

"Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices."

(this works for BOTH sides the police and protesters...)

and

"I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend with my life your RIGHT to say it."

They did take proper channels, in voicing one's opinion. Peaceful rallies aren't a bad idea.

It's the other protesters/violent people that ruined it for everyone else.

No proper channels would be writting to your MP and trying to get heard by the government or other authorities...not standing around holding signs and marching up and down the street.

For you it may not be proper channels but voicing ones opinion on any matter takes many forms.

I see nothing wrong with peaceful activism.

I don't see anything wrong with peaceful activism either...I just don't believe that it is peaceful activism when you disrupt the lives of the citizens because you don't like the way something is done.

I assume that a person heading towards the epi-center of the riot with a gas mask is suspicious - none of the peaceful guys had gas masks on them (and nor were they teargassed, AFAIK)

they wouldnt have even known about a gas mask (which btw is NOT illegal to have in your possession) had the not raided a GO train and illegally searched everyone on board.

Unreal. Talk about gestapo tactics

yeah obv if you walk around with a mask on any other day, noone would care less
during this week - it was a less then smart idea, IMO

Serious question here:

Why are sri lankens allowed to block the gardiner and cause mayhem, natives allowed to illegally occupy caledonia for years, native roadblocks are allowed to happen (all in ontario) yet people downtown who are singing Oh Canada are the ones who get the beating????

Its also not illegal for me to walk down the street with a shotgun....but I guarantee you I wouldn't have gotten very far on the weekend if I tried that.

maybe so but still not arrest worthy and certainly not worthy of an illegal search and a GO train raid

A truly peaceful protester would take proper channels to have their concerns heard.

Such as?sit home? protesting is part of our civilization and everyone has the right to do so and vast majority of these people were peaceful. Did you not see what happend on Queens Park? people were sitting around there and they werent disturbing peace in any way and they were far away from the G20 red lines.
The Police however decided to attack every single one of them and most of them were the members of the media. I'd love to hear someone to justify this for me.
