Really?! "Comer o sorvete" sounds absurd in Portuguese, we just say "tomar o sorvete"... "beber o sorvete" sounds equally bizarre, though :conf: |

well last time my friend asked me when i woke up.
vas a tomar el desayuno?
obviously you don't drink breakfast, but
more in the sense of having breakfast. but she has her way of expressing herself, superior to mine, blah blah blah.
could your teacher mean it in this context?
but if you are asking specifically about eating or drinking ice cream...?
because i'm an american i will say eat, because that's the way i know it in english, and my mind translates it to spanish that way.
but if you are not chewing, is it eating. you are licking it, it melts in your mouth and you swallow.
whatever, go with what your teacher says, she is the one grading you after all, not i.

I asked her again today and she said that in Spanish, it is beber for el helado. She says she knows it's strange, but that the Spanish drink their ice cream rather than eat it. LOL!
Her first language is Spanish (Argentinian), so I am going to take a bet that she is right. |
