I'm glad we agree.
I personally don't think that you could even get a top 6 forward.
Let me use a guy like Marc Andre Bergeron, who is also weak defensively but a huge powerplay specialist who had 14 goals last year and 32 points...90% of that being on the pp for comparison purposes..

Pretty good pp stats no? Guess what, he only had a contract a few weeks into the season because the habs needed someone to replace Markov on the pp. Before that no one wanted him at all.;)
that is how valuable a pp only guy is if he sucks defensively...and kaberle sucks defensively.;)
compare the stats now:

and yes Kaberle has more points, but he also is a top pairing defensmen that plays 10 minutes more a game than Bergeron.
on ANY other NHL team with a shot of making the playoffs, Kaberle would play 10 minutes less a game too;)
not to mention Bergeron makes 2.7 million dollars less than Kaberle...
It is so easy for you guys to place too much value on a player surrounded by mediocrity. |

Except that Kaberle is a 50-60 point Defensemen, not a 30-35 point D-man.
Kaberle is way better than Bergeron. |

Exactly!
Ok, I will admit he may not get a 1st round pick, but could possibly from a team that will finish high in the standings.
He would at least get some talent, whether young talent, some prospects, whatever, def more than a Bergeron trade lol.
Kaberle would also not stay unsigned through the first couple of weeks of the season.
Say what you will he could be traded at a higher price than you think schad. |

| what a pair of goals by Porno....I really like the way he plays...unfortunately I have a feeling Burke will be looking to get rid of him at the trade deadline. |

i was just using bergeron as an example on a pp specialist.
you guys seriously over evaluate talent, the proof in the pudding is everyone going ape when tsn said the leafs would miss the playoffs.;)
kaberle is making 4.25 million a year. there are tons of cheaper solutions in the nhl...if you guys are going to be sellers you are going to get less for him than you expect.
in the salary cap era you have to understand that teams do not have much room to maneuver like in the past.
either way no sense in arguing, you guys will see if it happens what i mean. He probably won't get traded because they can't get much for him;) |

| I will worship the next person who brings a playoffs-making team to Toronto. This is pathetic. |

Overrated is one thing. But he's still worth a top-6 forward (though, no high draft pick, I'll give you that). |

you might be able to get the 25th-30th overall pick for Kaberle but really by that time its a crap shoot if the players will ever make the NHL |
