It became pretty clear to me halfway through last year that Wilson is NOT the coach for this team. And I question if he's even a capable coach at all.

It's good point to bring up that bad players can make an average coach look bad, but bad coaching can also make average players look like a farm team.

These leafs have no heart, and usually that drive is fueled by the coach.

Wilson needs to go. I understand the team sucks, which is fine, but my issue isn't the skill level of the players, its the way they set up that bothers me and that is completely coaching. I don't know how many times we have to see power plays where all five players are playing outside and there isn't a single person in front of the net....hell there isn't even someone skating through the middle.

Wilson is either a bad coach or the team just won't play for him...either way Wilson has to go.

I've noticed this too, every lame powerplay is exactly the same. When they sometimes actually take the zone they slow things down, move it around the outside and take a shot. They need some creativity

Sorry guys but there will be no coaching change for now.... maybe they haven't found a suitor.

They won't play for him and they won't play with heart. The Leafs are too predictable and yes they play on the outside. Watching each game is horrible. I just may stop for the month of december.

There are no plans for drastic change in Toronto, including the firing of head coach Ron Wilson.

"No coaching change," said Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke via e-mail, no doubt frustrated by his team's play and the predictable line of questioning that inevitably follows each Leafs' loss.

Fans at Air Canada Centre called for Wilson's job during a 5-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

The hometown crowd's frustration grew when Sam Gagner scored with three seconds remaining in the second period to put to the Oilers up 3-0.

Gagner's eighth goal of the season killed Toronto's comeback hopes and displayed the Leafs' inexperience and unwillingness to fight back.

Watching Edmonton's youth in Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle shine at the ACC was painful, however, discontent in Leafs Nation won't be enough to end Wilson's reign.

"Have the players quit on Wilson?" "No," said a source close to the team.

Brian Burke and Maple Leafs' management continue to work the phones in search of a trade, but there is no deal at the moment the team believes is even remotely worth considering.

A minor trade, fourth liner for fourth liner, to change the look of the team would also be an option, but even the simple transactions appear to be impossible to nail down.

Veteran forward Colby Armstrong is expected to return this weekend after missing 16 games with an injured finger.

Armstrong is considered "likely" for Saturday's game against Tyler Seguin and the Boston Bruins.

Wilson is not the problem. Bad Coaches don't win close to 600 games. There is a difference between a team quiting and losing confidence.

He has either tied, lost, or overtime lost more games then he has won.....his coaching record isn't great.

Total Games - 1279
Wins - 590
Losses - 511
Ties - 101
Overtime Losses - 77

He is barely over .500.

I wouldn't mind having Ken Hitchas the next Coach. He's great with the young talent (lol) and the beefy D we have would fit well with previous teams he has coached.

I really think Dallas Eakins should be given a chance to coach the big club.

It's not the number of wins that you should be focusing on, it's the number of wins, compared to the number of losses. And Wilson is BARELY a .500 coach. .500 will keep you in the NHL, but it's certainly not worth praising.

+1

Also, a great coach can get players to play above their level....Wilson does not have that ability. He is also willing to throw his players under the bus at any given opportunity and that is not good....a good coach deflects negativity away from the players in the public....behind closed doors is another story.

iant56
A coach doesn't need to coddle his players. If the Leafs play like garbage & Wilson is asked about it by the media he doesn't BS.

I don't think the cliche 'thrown under the bus' is the same as holding players accountable.

Just my opinion.
