so would I, but I am not very optimistic about it...
I'm not either.
I have a feeling we are looking at a Boston vs Vancouver final with Vancouver taking it in 6.

I still think the East is Philly's to lose.
That being said if I had to choose a final today it would be Washington vs Detroit. (San Jose is really hot right now, but yeah they have always choked).
Washington is winning with defense right now, which is a really really scary thing considering the firepower they have. Detroit, well what can I say other than they might be the best team in hockey even if their record is not the best.
imo
Boston = Over rated. Thomas, Rask, Chara, Lucic, have always been the biggest chokers ever come playoff time except for......
The Canucks. I like them and they have the best shot of bringing a cup home to Canada in a long time. That bbeing said I will believe it when i see it, because they have been in this position before and failed miserably (more than once).
Teams people don't want to play right now:
East:
Buffalo (Philly isn't scared, but i know none of the other top seeds want to play these guys). As much as I've slated the Sabres, the way they have been playing the last few weeks is with purpose. The Sabres are not winning all this year, but if a lower seed pulls an upset I can see Ryan Miller being behind it.
West:
Nashville. Yeah, you think I'm crazy right? Nope, probably one of the most underrated teams in the NHL right now. No stars, just good team play and a good goalie.

+1, might be putting money on Vancouver this year, Blackhawks made me some good money last year. Not sure who I like better in the East, Boston or Wash. Might not bother with putting any futures bets on the East.

They made a good run at it after the all star game....it was actually nice watching some exciting games for once in the second half of the season. Hands down the player of the year for the leafs is Reimer. The team became a team once Reimer took over in net. I don't anticipate Reimer will be as outstanding next year but it seems the team has confidence in him and I think that goes a long way in making the team better.

MAPLE LEAFS ACQUIRE DEFENCEMAN LILES FROM AVALANCHE
John-Michael Liles is heading to Toronto.
The Avalanche sent the defenceman to the Maple Leafs in exchange for Toronto's second round draft pick in 2012. That draft pick was acquired when the Leafs dealt Tomas Kaberle to the Bruins last year.
Liles has been with the Avs for all seven of his seasons in the NHL. Last year, he posted six goals and 40 assists in 76 games.
The 30-year-old has 68 goals and 207 assists in 523 career games.
Liles has one year remaining on his contract at $4.5 million, with a cap hit at $4.2 million.
Not a bad replacement for Kaberle.

Tyler Biggs may be appropriately named, afterall, he is a 17-year-old bohemoth at 6-foot-3 and over 200lbs., and he also is a big time player that comes through in big games. Need proof? Well he scored the gold medal winner in Team USA’s win over Team Ontario in this years World U-17’s, and finished the tourney with 6 points (5G,1A) in 6 games. This season, while playing with the Team USA Juniors in the USHL, he collected 11 points (6G,5A) to go with 54 penalty minutes in 24 games. Not bad for a then 16-year-old playing against older competition. Last season he suited up for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, and put up 40 goals and 86 points in 72 games. Biggs is committed to play collegiate hockey at Miami University, which means Redhawk fans have even more to cheer about after their Frozen Four appearence this past year. He is a pure power forward, with soft hands, good foot speed, drives to the net well and uses his size and strength to his advantage. Biggs has great hockey sense, something passed down by his father (Don) who was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars, and had a great minor league career. He truly has untapped potential, that NHL scouts will be drooling over come next year.

I'm liking what Burke has done in this year in 2011, not just the draft.
So for Kaberle we get: Joe Colborne, JM LIlies, and Tyler Biggs.
Pretty good! And Kaberle gets a ring, everyone wins!
I think the 2012 season will look really good after these guys are developed. Next year will still be tough to make the playoffs but we may just squeak in. At least we can see a brighter light at the end of the tunnel if Burke's tenure expires by that time.
BTW I wouldn't be surprised if Burke lands Lecavalier from Tampa or even Brad Richards. I can also see MacArthur signed and then shipped off to another team. Same with Kadri.
