it's meh.
I'm thinking that this year is going to be pretty good for us. I think 4th...leafs will finish 10th and be in the race until the final 2 weeks. they are definitely better, but not good enough to make the dance yet.

I like the new jersey only because they used colours that represent the air force. The lighter shade matches the historical colours of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the darker comes from the paint used on many of the military's current aircraft.

As for the leafs, they may sneak into the 8th position but I still think they are a year away from being a true playoff team. The team is still fairly young. The oldest guy on the team is Finger at 31 and he won't see a minute of ice time in the NHL. After finger the oldest player is 30.

MOSCOW — A passenger plane carrying a Russian ice hockey team crashed shortly after takeoff near the city of Yaroslavl on Wednesday, killing 36 of the 37 people on board, officials and news agencies said.

The Yak-42 aircraft was headed from the city north of Moscow to Minsk in Belarus when it crashed, an official at state aviation agency Rosaviatsia said. The official said 36 people were killed and one was injured.

The plane was carrying members of a Continental Hockey League (KHL) hockey team based in Yaroslavl, Lokomotiv, to a match in Minsk, Belarus, state-run RIA news agency cited a regional Emergency Situations Ministry official as saying.

Several former NHL players were on the team's roster, including Pavol Demitra, who played for the Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks, Karel Rachunek, who played for the Senators, and Ruslan Salei, who played for the Detroit Red Wings.

The team's coach, Brad McCrimmon of Plenty, Sask., is a former Calgary Flame who won the Stanley Cup with the team in 1989.

Interfax cited a security official as saying the plane caught fire after the crash near the airport.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin ordered Transport Minister Igor Levitin to travel to the site.

The crash occurred while Russia was hosting an international political forum in Yaroslavl that President Dmitry Medvedev was expected to address this week.

I really liked the shallow nets. They spread play out and made the powerplays more fluid.

It was great to see the blue and white again. Its been a long summer in that regard!

I hope it will be difficult to make cuts. Either way I'm happy with out D-men. I just hope they aren't all good medicore players this season. Let's see some progress!

'Can't argue with its significance and I like the colours too but the logo looks like clip art, which, according to a source close to my work, is not too far off :p

Toronto looks better but so too do the teams they need to bump out of that last playoff spot. They need to get off to a good start....then again, who doesn't?

As typical for toronto in the last few years it all comes down to if the goalie can stop the puck. They have the ability to score some goals but they need a goaltender who is going to steal you 5 or 6 wins in a season. Toronto hasn't had that in a long time.
