I think the Leafs need to win at least 5 more games to get in....although I think Carolina has the easiest schedule of any of the teams.....I got a feeling we are going to see Toronto v Montreal on the last night and the winner goes to the playoffs....such a log jam....and you can belame the stupid extra point crap for this....its time to get rid of the one point for an overtime or shoutout loss.
Although....my suggestion is make winning in regulation time worth more as the game is suppose to be played in 60 minutes....this is how I would make the point system
4 points for a win in regulation time
3 points for a win in overtime
2 points for a win in a shout out
2 point for a overtime or shout out loss
I bet we would see a huge difference in the standings if this was the case. |

No, do 3 for win 1 for OT/shootout loss.
4 is way too many points for one game |

| four points may be too many and I would have no problem with three points for Win in regulation....but there are too many teams that are willing to sit back and go for the shootout instead of trying to win it in overtime....there should be rewards for winning in overtime. |

I suspect there will never be a good solution to this problem.
It's been happening in football when a weaker team sits back and hopes for a win on penalty kicks. |

The ideal way is 2 points for a win and thats it....nothing for loosing....period.
That won't happen though because the race for a playoff spot would be over with so quickly that many markets will die an even quicker death then it already is....teams would be out of the race and fans would stop going. |

The leafs finished exactly where they were projected to finish so I don't know why its such a surprise to anyone....any true leaf fan would have known that they were screwed from the minute ferguson signed McCabe's contract.
The best thing to happen to the leafs was not making the playoffs...maybe they will actually do something to better the team...although I highly doubt it as Ferguson isn't going anywhere and the team has no vision....they tried to secure the defence last year and yet they were the 7th worst team for goals allowed. Ferguson has already stated that he is going to look into bettering the defence....WTF....how about taking some time and money and helping out the offence on this team. |

| Those are a couple good players. Vesa Toskala was basically the No. 1 goalie in San Jose until the playoffs. Bell could be a good surprise....he was good enough to play first line with Thorton....could be a good match with Sundin |
