Of course nobody scores the same way all the time but you can usually guess what someone is going to do. these guys just more talented players playing on more talented teams. im pretty sure kessel would have ten more goals than he does now if he had a decent centre. he's not a franchise player and we need to understand that. give me marty st loius and a rocket of a shot and ill score 50 in 50 no problem. kessel has potential, but not on the current leafs |
You cannot compare superstars to above average players....Kessel is above average....that is it. You put any of the players you mentioned on the leafs and I bet there would only be a minimal difference in their point production whereas Kessel you see a big drop off...which to me shows he isn't as great as people seem to think. He is a one dimensional player...hell I'd say he is probably even less than one dimensional. |

my point wasn't to compare kessel to those players. i used those players as an example to say that most players have a specific skill set and you know what they're going to do MOST of the time, even the big names
i also said that kessel is clearly NOT a franchise player which stammers and crosby obviously are. crosby would obviously still get points on the leafs and i don't think kessel is in that league of players. all im sayin is if he had a better centre, he'd be more consistent and could score 40+. and besides, there's very few players in the league that can carry a team by themselves anyway. |

Even with a proper first line centre its not going to stop him from carrying the puck in and making a B line for the top of the circle. A quality centre will help when the play actually develops in the zone. Even then, Kessel is too weak on the boards and he has no clue where to set up in the zone. He is a lost puppy out there most of the time and it doesn't matter who the centre is if you can't position yourself properly. |

Ovie is proving that this year too.
having Malkin and Staal on your team makes it easier for Crosby to get good matchups against defensive pairings and other lines as well. He really proved to me he isn't head and shoulders above the competition in the Olympics and even in the playoffs against the Habs, etc.
is he an efficient player? Yes. Does he deserve to be called the best player in the game right now? Not in my opinion. |

Not right now. But in 5-8 years down the road I think he will have a lot of person accomplishments and will make his team competitive every year. The pens weren't doing so well in the beginning of the season but once he started to pick up his game, the team started winning. They are on an incredible streak right now 9-0-1 in their last 10. They may not consistently make it to the conference final but I can assure you he will make that team very competitive.
As for best player, its hard to say because of upcoming players starting to bloom. stamkos and skinner. But OV is a different player. He's starting to change now but I think in the long run hes in it for personal goals rather than team goals. The defence on that team needs a wake up call. They can score big goals but they need to play better D. The team is really exciting to watch but if I were to pick a complete team that can play any game right now, it would by philly. |

I hope they fire him. But they won't this year. unless the team goes on an 0-10 streak. But that won't happen anymore. Leafs already had their losing streak. Colby Armstrong should be returning this weekend and Phaneuf is probably 2 weeks away.
We'll see how we do, but if we lose tonight... that's pretty bad. Edmonton will be a good team in 3 years. not now. |

I have come to the conclusion that the Leafs do not deserve to win any game they win.
I also think that they aren't even trying. I can bet you that if Wilson was fired, the team would play better with an interim coach. |
