the thing is burke has absolutely nothing left to get an impact player on offence...no free agent (kovalchuk) will want to play with an anemic offence.
you guys will suck for a long time, but at least you will hit harder:p |

| I think Schenn might be out the door and a young Dman will get you some decent offensive player. I expect the leafs to be bottom feeders for the next few years. I just hope Burke can find some free agents to make their way to Toronto...and you are right Kovalchuck will not be coming to Toronto...the leafs don't have the cap room and Burke will not sign him to a 10 year contract like he wants. |

| Ponikarovsky is probably next. He will fetch a second rounder tops...rumour has him going to Pittsburgh...so since the drafting order gets reversed in each round, it would be feasibly a high 2nd round pick if it happens. |

Poni is definitely going somewhere....he would fit in really nicely with Pittsburgh.
I also think Finger is gone....if they can find someone willing to take on that stupid contract.
Schenn may be on the outs too...although I really don't know what you would get for him....if they trade him they will be looking for a lot in return. |

remember when Schenn was the future?
they won't get that much for him, he isn't that good. |

| rumor has it that the leafs will be holding open tryouts for forwards...come one, come all |

Burke will only trade him if the deal is right....its too early to say anything about Schenn...most players have down years in their second year....besides most defencemen don't really develop until they hit 30. |

for sure, but the gamble involved means that someone trading for him would be not willing to give up something too high for a player that might never pan out to be something special.
it would be a swap of young struggling players at most, sort of like the latendresse for pouilot trade here. |

Calgary got totally hosed in this trade, it feels nice to be on the better end this year
first off, blake and toskala gone, amazing, even if we got nothing in return, bad contracts out of the way
we get dion and he has 4 years remaining on his contract, he will be a leaf for years to come
who do we lose of importance, white, stajan, hagman
anyone would trade white for dion, even though white has been playing great for us
stajan and hagman are both free agents this summer
we can realistically take a run at either of them if we wanted too in the off season
good day in leaf land, finally |

| Hagman has two years left on his contract and why the hell would we want Stajan back.....Burke is cleaning house...and he should be. Toronto needs to get old faces out and bring in new faces. |

woops didnt realise about hagman
and yea i agree about stajan
in my opinion he is over achieving this year and did the same last year
hes a solid 2nd line, more realistically 3rd line guy
but lets see what happens if you put him around someone like iginla |

| reality is...any of the players that have been traded are not in the future plans for the leafs so if you get anything for them its better then nothing. Burke is looking to clear out pretty much all players that were their prior to him being GM. He still has some players to go and anything he gets for those players will be a positive....even if they are just short term roster fillers. |
