Spoken like true loser ownership. Leafs, 13/15 in the East. Raps, 12/15 in the East. TFC, 10/10 in the East. Yet all these teams have more money (in Leafs and TFC case more fan base + support) at their disposal than the majority of other teams in their league. All teams continue to lose year after year.

Jays are the only large sports team in this city that ever produce results imo and usually on 25-40% of the payroll that the Yanks and Sox have (both in their division of course). Basically the opposite financial situation and results of the MLSE owned teams. So that rules out the possible city based causes of losing like fans, media or whatever BS people try to claim. OTPP and Tanenbaum try to run things like it's a corporation not a sports team and until they realize their stupidity or sell the teams off their won't be much success imo. This dumbass letter is just proof of that as it's written like a letter to stockholders of a corporation. Replace "Leafs" with "BlackBerry" and "fans" with "stockholders" and this could be something put out by RIM.

The city of Toronto needs a group of activists to set up a day (potentially the home opener) to boycott the organization. That means, no fan attendance, tv ratings or influx of money into that one game to show that the city is actually serious about not supporting the team.

Imagine one game where the city didn't care. We have earth hour, i don't see why this can't happen if people are really committed to show the MLSE they have balls to stand up them.

Honestly, I would have rather made the playoffs this year, last year or year before and get swept in 4 games with a total of 1 goal per game and just get a taste of the post season.

i'm looking forward to getting this player :D

Good idea but would never work when something like 80% of their seats are already sold to season ticket holders, mostly corporate ones at that.

Habs are about to put on a demo of how to actually go through a rebuilding phase which for a normal team lasts 2-3 years. New coach/gm, decent draft pick (hopefully), get rid of the baggage (still got a couple contracts to clear) and likely the season after the next one they'll be stronger than they've been in a long time.

if they can ditch gomez (bury him like redden), get an nhl ready kid, get a shot on d and the contracts as you said, and this is a good team.

They lost so many one goal games and shootouts this year, but in the end i'm glad we have our highest draft pick since 1980 and pierre gauthier is gone. If played right i would want to be a playoff team in 2 years, cup contender in 3-4 if done right. they won't commit to a full rebuild though i'm afraid....for the same reasons you guys never really have.

habs played actually decent near the end of the year which pissed me off as i was rooting for loses. ing edmonton...how many number 1 overall picks before they actually win. jebus.

You know the system is retarded when a team like florida is 3rd winning their division with 18 1 point games when they really dont deserve to be there along with los angeles and phoenix. florida has 3 more regular season wins than the leafs and pretty all they had to do was tie a game and voila they are in the playoffs.

these one point game are making teams who dont deserve to be in the playoffs, playoff teams. talk about inflation.

The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American history.

Who said 'Give me Liberty, or give me Death'?"

She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Hodaiki a bright foreign
exchange student from Japan, who had his hand up: 'Patrick Henry, 1775',he said.

'Very good!'

Who said, 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People,
shall not perish from the Earth?'

Again, no response except from Little Hodaiki: 'Abraham Lincoln, 1863'.

'Excellent!' said the teacher continuing, 'let's try one a bit more
difficult...'

Who said, 'Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country?'

Once again, Hodaiki's was the only hand in the air and he said:
'John F. Kennedy, 1961'.

The teacher snapped at the class, 'Class, you should be ashamed of
yourselves, Little Hodaiki isn't from this country and he knows more
about our history than you do.'

She heard a loud whisper: 'F . . k the Japs,'

'Who said that? I want to know right now!' she angrily demanded.

Little Hodaiki put his hand up, 'General MacArthur, 1945.'

At that point, a student in the back said, 'I'm gonna puke.'

The teacher glared around and asks, 'All right! Now who said that!?'

Again, Little Hodaiki said, 'George Bush to the Japanese Prime
Minister,1991.'

Now furious, another student yelled, 'Oh yeah? Suck this!'

Little Hodaiki jumped out of his chair waving his hand and shouted to
the teacher, 'Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!'

Now with almost mob hysteria someone said, 'You little . If you say anything else, I'll kill you.'

Little Hodaiki frantically yelled at the top of his voice, "Michael
Jackson to the child witness testifying against him, 2004.'

The teacher fainted.

As the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, 'Oh , We're screwed!'

Little Hodaiki said quietly, 'The Toronto Maple Leafs, 2012.'
