There's no way that Burkey would make that deal for Kessel.. *maybe* if the Bruins were giving up a third rounder, sure. But for Kaberle and a first rounder? No ing chance.

''Not a chance that's happening,'' said the source in reference to the No. 7 pick. ''Wasn't offered, and there isn't a chance the Leafs do that deal.''

A tsn.ca report posted earlier today had it that the Bruins offered Kessel for Kaberle and the No. 7.

Well...Leafs Fans are being lied to again.

Note to Burke: Don't open your fat mouth if you can't back up the the spews out of it.

fun stuff. so we signed...

Komisarek, Mike $22.5 5years = $4.5M/year

Orr, Colton NY $4M 4years = $1M/year

and traded kubina + rights to Tim Stapleton for Garnet Exelby + Colin Stuart.
Yohan

no...it means the leafs will still suck as bad but with different people.

I understand the concept of building a team from the goalie out but this is just stupid. Komisarek is just a younger Kubina, Orr is a tough guy fifth liner, Stuart is a third or fourth liner at best and Exelby is just another stay at home defenceman.

What the leafs need to do is get someone who actually belongs on a first and second line. So far my faith in Burke is going down hill quickly.

Yeah I can't see any of this helping us make the playoffs this year, or even start a foundation for a decent team.
Maybe I'll crawl under a rock for 5 years then get out and see if anything's changed.
Jer
I dunno, man. I've always liked Komisarek and apparently the fun has just begun.

Francois Beauchemin and Nazem Kadri are now both signed with the leafs.

Leafs add Beauchemin to blueline

WTF is with Burke....how many Defencemen do we need. They have something like 9 defencemen on the roster and maybe one forward who would make the top two lines on any other NHL team. I understand there is a plan in place but the plan should include at least some offence. Since Nash is off the market now it seems Burke is going to struggle to get any offence for this team. I see the leafs having to go through this rebuild and another rebuild.

He's picking up defense to trade for forwards. If not THIS year, then next year. I'd say beefing up our D with some ACTUAL defense is pretty key. You need look no further than San Jose or Ottawa to see where a Forward-heavy team ends up in the playoffs

I'd say Van Ryn is on the trading block if anyone'll take him, barring that, Kaberle is gone by the trade deadline. Harrison and Oreskovic are definitely call-ups.

I'm pretty sure our main 6 will look something like:

Kaberle
Schenn
White
Komisarek
Bouchemin
Exelby

I think Bouchemin was probably the best pickup out of the 3 big D he's picked up so far.
