I have a couple of questions for the headfone experts:
1. How are the Senn HD280 Pro's for just regular listening? They sound really good for DJ'ing, but I'd like to use them for listening to CD's on the subway and busses because of the noise-blocking. Are they good for that too?
2. Anyone know of a good place in Canada to get the HD280's? I went to the best Audio store in Toronto (they had a demo wall of Grado, Senn, Sony, and other sweet headphones!) but they would have to do a special order, and would charge me full list price (US$200) on top of it. I can get them from the US if possible, but I would prefer to buy domestic. |

To answer your questions DamnDirtyApe, yes they are sweet for just listening to tunes. These headphones are amazing. I ordered mine from www.hificoncepts.com They were $84 U.S. I ordered them on a late Wednesday afternoon and recieved them at 10:30 Friday morning and that was with standard UPS Ground. I was very impressed with HiFi Concepts price and service! |

And Veldrid, you are the one who nearly 10 months ago had defended the Sony MDR-V700DJ!

They have NO deep bass, uneven midbass, WAY overblown upper bass and lower mids, depressed/sucky upper mids and lower highs, harsh/tinny/honky/screechy mid-treble, and nonexistent high treble - making it EXTREMELY difficult to hear the beats that are so IMPORTANT in beatmatching. |
that you cant hear the beats is a subjective opinion..
if your ears are so ed up that you cant hear the bets, you shouldnt blame the headphones..
i hear the beats very good..
so you should probably check your ears before you say something like that lol..
reading this hilarious post made my day :D :D |

Well, you'd have to have extremely acute hearing in order to hear the beats well on some of the poorer-performing headphones (such as the Sony MDR-V500DJ's and the Sony MDR-V600's); a person of average hearing may not be able to hear the difference between REAL beats and FAKE "resonances" masquerading as "beats" from a pair of poorer-sounding headphones. And for people of even average hearing ability, there are much better choices in headphones than those Sonys at that price level - the better-performing headphones have tight, controlled, defined bass; the Sonys, on the other hand, have mushy, sloppy and muddy bass (whatever little bass that comes out of those Sonys, that is). |

| Ya I was a HUGE fan of the 700's, I mean I raved about them to everyone. At that time I dont think the 280HD's were out but if they were I was a real tard. I am glad Gluegun educated these forums with his knowledge of headphones. I am telling you go with the 280HD's, you won't be disappointed. |

The Stanton DJ Pro's are pretty mediocre.... Go for the V6's in that price range....
Info is hearsay. |
