No doubt this thread has some great information that Ive carefully studied. However, I was hoping someone coud point me in the right direction of a site where I could compare a more professional review to the ones on headphone.com (where the models Im looking for aren't reviewed.) The 7509 hasnt been talked about much on this thread nor has the Technics model (though Ive found more info on this than the former.) Can anyone help? |

I just bought the Technics 'phones you're looking at, and I must say that I am enjoying them every bit. They have a removable cord, which is an awesome and intelligent feature, they fold up, they swivel, and they've larger drivers, so you get a pretty full range. Pretty good for $180 USD. Some other guy on some other thread said his lasted three years before they started to crack(I'm assuming the drivers), which definitely reaffirmed my decision...That, and the fact that I got mine for $100 USD ;)
Regarding the site that was posted up above me, the reviewer was misinformed on the DH-1200s weighing 4.5lbs, there is no way they weigh that much...Panasonic's site has some serious typos on it, like said 'phones being about 2' in one dimension ;) |

u know, since my last post regarding enquiries to do with headphones, my senns are still in 100% condition and functionality, other than tears from abuse on the pads. I wouldn't let certain people's perceptions on cracking bother you. It all depends on how you use them, and the shape of your head. If you think the way you use them is going to require hardcore durability, then you should certainly take that into consideration. If your gonna take care of them, or are even willing to pre-emptively black tape them the way I did, then they should last a long time. i really abuse the hell out of my HD280s but they're fine despite their reputation. Still sound great, and were well worth the isolation (which is why I bought them) |

The single best sounding and most comfortable pair of phones I've ever bought., after using the MDR V700's, the Pioneer HDJ1000's, the HD-25's, and Technics DJ 1200's, these are without a doubt the clear, all around winners.
Thanks to those that recommended them! |
Quite some time has gone now, do you still like them as much?
I liked these more than the hd-25's when i tried them out in-store this past weekend. But the only source I had was a tiny mp3-player that certainly can't do them justice... |

rp dh 1200s are reliable and can withstand lots of abuse. ive had mine for about a year and they still work (they are loud for prefade and still sound better then any system ive ever heard in my life other than the huge dj sound systems) after they
1. fell off my head onto the sidewalk
2. had my mixer clip 2 red dots (7 db) at maximum headphone volume for like a full second
3. used them as a sound system overnight (i set them on my desk across the room from my bed) at 3/4 of the maximum volume levels a few times
4. plugged them and unplugged them into my mixer/ipod with the volume already on many times |

| DJ PSYCHOTRANCE |
I've had the Technics RP-DH1200's for almost a year and a half, so i decided to buy another set of cans, got the AKG K181 DJ and the difference in sound quality compared to the Technics is like night and day. The Technics are so damn muddy compared to the AKG's, the AKG's you can hear alot more of the finer detail of the music and they still have great bass. Good thing with the AKG's is you have a switch on each earcup for small or large club, when set to small the bass is ok, but when set to large the bass is like boom....they also have a stereo-mono switch and detachable cord and the swivel joint is magnesium so it don't crack
You can pick them up for £67.53 at http://www.decks.co.uk |
