Sennheiser hd 200
Sennhesier Eh 1430
Sennheiser HD 280
Sennheiser HD25
sennheiser HD25Sp
technics 1210s
theres probably a few others- but those are the main ones
Sick of sennheisers- dont want another pair- i dont get on with them well
Dont like the technics- ear cups are too small
Love the sound of the sonys (700s are my fave phones ive used)- just the sodding reliablilty pisses me off- i currently use them and they have started cracking. Again.
I have a few on my list to try- we shall see. |
I didnt mean to imply you were a beginner -- mostly just that the K271 Pro's are more of the "lets try these cheap ones and see how they do" type... Hmm... I would Suggest IXOS, Pioneer, and Ultrasone for your next brands to try out... good luck... |

I will probably try a different sony model- possibly V6/ MDR7506- not hard to get over here if you know where to go- but im not sure- not sure they look the most comfortable or if they suit my style of usage...also ive been told the earpads are wank.
Also-
I have been told for the sound of the V700s (which i like) but with greater reliability- to possibly try the MDR7505...- same design- but ive been told these ones dont crack......-they are from the sony professional series also- not the dj series.
Other option is the pioneer 1000s

I've just noticed my Sennheiser HD-280's have some small cracks in the plastic on the inner surface of the end pieces of the headband. Below the 2 screws on the end of the band. It's the pieces below the padding, above where the headphones slide into the headband. The cracking pieces look replaceable. The plastic is under tension on these parts and not thick or strong enough.
I don't know if this is just a cosmetic problem or if it will cause a serious break in the future. I've used them lightly and carefully for about 2 months. I'm a fairly average size person.
Anyone else notice this on their Senn 280's? |

The Sony MDR-V6 and MDR-7506 are quite comfortable -- especially if you do the ever-popular Beyerdynamic pad mod (replace the earpads with those from the Beyerdynamic DT250) |

I dunno, but contact Sennheiser about getting them fixed -- they should still be under warranty... |

I will be plugging my headphones into a behringer DJX700. From before, i ruled out the HDJ1000 cuz they are too expensive. I don't want the v700's for the boomy bass. I am looking at the HD280 Pro and the MDR 7506. These are the two I am most likely to get. However, I am also considering the RPDJ1200's. I can buy all three of these locally. I want to give the more accurate less boomy bass on the headphones a try.
I am only a bedroom dj so i won't be playing at venues any time soon since i am a noob. I think i will make a trip to a hi fi store soon and see what they have. |

Check froogle for some prices on MDR-V6... you might be surprised at how inexpensive they are... anyway, if you can get the 280's or the 7506 locally, why not buy both and return the one you don't like? (or return both, and get them cheaper online...) |

Probably gonna grab a pair of pioneer HDj1000s this week.
Looks similar functionally to the sonys- but wihout the big question mark of reliability over the joints |

| i have a question, have you ever noticed how the volume has a different balance? like i mean sometimes when u hear a track, u hear more sound from the right than the left, or vice versa. is it normal or is it my ears? i hope im not going def.:conf: |

Went to guitar center today and tried out the 7506 and the HD280's. Based on sound quality, I liked the 280's alot more. The bass did seem a little boomy on the 7506 so I ended up getting the HD280's. They gave em to me for 85 plus tax!
I must say I really like the sound of these headphones and they are pretty comfortable for me although the fit is a little tight. HOpefully they will sound even better once they are burned in |

Peoples hearing does differ from ear to ear. Hence the reason for left and right phones not to mention the panningon the record. It may not be that you hear it any less it's just the sound may be different.
Think of it like this.. when you are speaking on the phone you usually favour one ear. When you switch it will sound a little strange but that is natural. It may be a similar thing you are experiencing.
If you are worried however then by all means to go and get your hearing tested.
My own hearing is really weird. It should be wrecked at this point after all these years but isn't.
Cheers

headphones
ive been djing for about a year now. when first looking for some equipment i thought headphones werent much of a big deal. i was wrong. at many records stores ive heard many hp's and from the test to the best here are the results that i believe the hp's are
1.behringer
2.stanton
3.sony
4.technics
5.sennhieser(hd25)
the sennheiser's are the best headphones ive ever used. they are durable, loud(very ing loud, little distortion), tough whereing.
i have teated these ph's like to be honest with you and they still manage to battle on. one really good aspect that i like about these ph's are the fact they are able to close of the external sounds. this feature is awesome especially when your working in an envirnment where there is too too much bass or just loud in general.
the cost of these hp's may be considerably more dearer than the technics or sony's but i reckon you'd be better of in the long term with these hp's.
one word of advice i give to ameture djs - protect your ears!!! these ph's do the job. because these hp's close of external sound i have never had to crank it louder than one quarter.
use them wisely....sennheiser... |
