ShadySlim,
Thanks for the insight. I am always looking for new and better ideas and information on products related to DJing. You seem to have some good knowledge on the subject. I will most likely stay with the Sony headphones until they fail me. I have had them for nearly three years and that is more than I can say for any others that I have had. If you get a chance check out my site and listen to some of sets, I think you will enjoy them. The site is www.dj_madness.djcentral.com. I am still posting my sets so the ones there already are some of my older sets but nonetheless still good. I will be posting my newer sets shortly.

just wanted to add that I got to listen to the Technics RPDJ1200A (silver ones) at my pro audio store. I was kinda there to get the SEnn HD25, but they didnt have them available. Anyhow, back to the Technics. Im kinda dissapointed, because my Sony MDR7506 sound better.
Besides that, the cup did not go over my ear completely, so I think it does not isolate as well. The fit of the actual earphone kinda effects the sound quality. |

| ok this thread is entirely to long for me to search through, but im just giving my two cents on the pioneer se-dj5000 headphones.. i just got 'em last week, i like 'em a lot, i was kinda disappointed when i pulled 'em outta the box cuz the cups seemed kinda small, but the padding sufficiently isolates the sound so although they don't fit over the entire ear, they are more than efficient w/ isolation.. i think the sound quality is better from my sony v6's with the higher frequency range and if you compared the cleaness of tonal quality, however the pioneer's can handle a much higher stress load of volume then the v6 can, it seemed to me w/ my v6's that i was always coming close to the breaking point of getting static or sound clipping or watever u wanna call too much power going to the headphones, now i can really see that the v6's are not meant to be live dj headphones, they are now perfect for me when i'm producing, but to dj, i'm loving the pioneer's. this post isn't to dog any other heapdhones, i'm just telling u my experience so far with the sedjs, i also like the swivel cups although it would be nicer if there was a hinge so that they could sway back and forth (like from the back of ur ear to the front of the ear) but thats not a problem, possibly not the greatest real sound quality (but then i shouldn't really compare it to the v6 cuz the v6 is a studio monitor headphone) but its perfect for mixing at high volumes in my opnion. i didn't want to get the v700's (used to use them all the time) because i felt they were too heavy, and i didn't try the pioneer hdj1000 cuz they look too flashy for my taste. my verdict: if you need headphones that can handle high volume for around $100 that are not the sony v700, checkout these things, but i always stress go to the store and try 'em on before you buy! however, if you just need some headphones to hear the sound in your bedroom, in other words if you DONT need headphones to handle high volume, i'd still go w/ the sony v6's.. and also, i've never tried the senheizer's or technices headphones (which were my next choices) so also keep in mind that my review doesn't consider these other ones in comparison. hope this helps someone. |

After reading through this thread (really appreciate insight from everyone!) I think I am going with these phones. I currently have Grado Labs SR80s that sound great (to me...), but are open-eared. I am going to go to the store tomorrow to listen to them. If I buy them I will write a little review myself. |

| As far as i know it's not a diffcult process. General use will do it but if you want to do it quickly just put a cd on repeat and have the sound coming through your headphones at a decent level. Then just leave em for a day or something. Though you might want to give your cd player a rest or it may overheat or something. |

Or what's apparently even BETTER than the Hd280s are the Senns HD25's. Those are considered to be handsdown the best out there for some people. Then there are those mentioned above or the Pioneer HDJ1000s |
