| I am fairly sure the cord is replaceable... i think you have to send it to Sony to replace that, it's not one of those do it yourself jobs... |

In the end i went for the HD280's because they were cheaper for me and all the parts a replaceable and i figured they can't be that bad. I've only had them a week and i only use them for DJ'ing. They go so loud without distorting that you would not want to put them on if they were fully cranked.
All i can say is they do the job and i have no plans to replace them with something different at the moment. Although i wouldn't mind a pair of the Sony's way in the future just for the hell of it. :toothless |
Fzrr, what other headphones did you use before? What can you compare to? |

| Someone needs to try those Ultrasone HFI-650's. I wanna know what there like from a DJ/TA's point of view... and how they compare to the 280's & V6's. |

What is the cheapest Sennheiser HD25? So far, I've seem 144.95 through Etronics.
Ive checked shopping.yahoo.com, not cheaper.
How about European shops online (for the european people)??? Isnt it supposed to be cheaper in Europe for those cans? Give me some Euro online shops. |

I agree to that dude over here.My MDR V 700's have just arrived and all i have to say is that they f*ck all the other "headphones".The 700's are something more than just headphones! And, Gluegun, you think you know everything but you know .You just know a model that you always refer to,like if you are a supplier of that stuff!Geez!Get a life! ;)
One is for sure : if you want to show me how good they are, show me pics with famous djs that wear them on their heads! And I am sure that I have more photos with the 700's...

Guys before you get up all excited on the 700s, dont belive the hype. Secondly,When i first got them (i have the sony mdr-v700dj), i thought they were the ! However, once listening to other cans like the sennheiser HD25, you will see that is not the case. So unless you have tested and compared the 700dj with all the other top pro dj headphones, dont talk.
The 700djs arent all that bad... they are actually good for djing, but too bad sony did not make the 700dj with quality parts and materials. |

You are right. If someone has not compared them with other top dj headphones, he won't know! And as I understood, you don't like sennheiser HD25, huh? :gsmile: |

You DO realize that Sony pays those DJ's a good amount of money (2 Grand, i think, for some of the big names...) to wear the V700DJ's? This is because Sony gets a LOT of profit for the V700DJ's... hell, if they wanted to sell them at a competitive price, they'd be maybe $55? That's what they are in Japan, i think, because of the ratio of the Yen to the USD... really, it is very easy to get headphones that are FAR better than the V700DJ's for far less money, anywhere in the world...
Simply read the rest of this thread to find out why... and get on ICQ! I messaged you! |

I like the Sennheiser HD25s,,, they are great. However, when I got my 700s, I couldnt find the sennheiser HD25 locally to listen for myself. The sales guy promised me that the Sony 700DJ were great for djing and that I would not be dissapointed. He also stated that if i was not satisfied, I could return them.
I tested them,,, and they sounded great. Much better than the Koss TD80s I was using, so I kept them. I also liked them cause they went very loud. I still like them for djing, but they have cracked, so I cant depend too much on them. Then, after listening to sennheisers, the HD25s had more clarity, better response, better separation than the 700DJ
Now on to the juicy stuff. I just came back from the local store,,,, purchased some new cans! I ended up buying the Sony MDR7506... they didnt have the V6, otherwise I would have gotten those (to save money). Right now, as im typing this, I have them on. All I can say is that this is worth its money plus much more. They sound excellent! What a sound listening experience! I cant take them off, i wont take them off! I didnt get the sennheiser HD25, cause they dont carry them there, and because I wante to save some money too. These cans are going to be great for producing!
So what is the main difference between the MDR7506 and the MDR-V700DJ?
1. Sound quality
a. I first listened to a whole track with the MDR-V700DJ, and it sound perfectly fine, excellent, according to me. Mainly cause im use to them. Then, I played the same track at the same volume with the MDR-7506... I noticed it was not as loud, but better. Clear, every detail in the track I can hear, man they sound good I thought. Then I placed the 700s on again... this time they sounded like the Mids were way to high, that is what cause the loudness, and it sounded like they were playing muffled clogged highs behind a pillow or something.
The bass is so precise, everything is in its own place, if you get what im saying (MDR7506)
2. Comfort.
a.They are very comfortable to me. Im used to the 700dj which are heavy and very uncomfortable.
Gluegun: Thank you for giving me the facts on these cans, cause they are really worth their money plus more!
One thing... for those of you wondering.. so what would be best for djing? what should i get if I only want to DJ?
7506... why? cause they probably wont break in a few months. They also block outside noise very well. Dont forget, you will pay less. To be 100% honest, the extra clarity wont help me mix better. The 700s are definetely good enough for mixing. However, for those who mix with the headset on, the 7506 will be more comfortable. |
