They will get more bassy and mellow after being used for a few weeks. But they won't ever be really bassy. I've had mine for a year and like them except for the headband ends cracking problem.
Listening to music on headphones I find is different from speakers. These phones will pick up a lot of details and defects in the music that you might not be able to hear with speakers. Also the experience with phones I find depends more on your mood and personal energy levels. I can listen to the same music and it sounds great sometimes, and another time when I'm tired or listened to too much music, it can sound bad, and sound like either the headphones are distorting or the music is poorly recorded or there is a playback problem.

i just got a pair of sennheiser hd280's and there amazing headphones and all but the sound is slightly distorted with some records - is this normal when their new? Its like the sound quality is soo clear that you can easily hear crackles on records. |

Ok, im in the market.
i could robably order a pair of stanton 3000s or Pioneer 1000s. I dont like the 280s. they just arent comfy on my head.
BUT. im going to amsterdam in janurary, should i wait and buy the hd-25s? and what would the price difference be? |

itd be nice to see another breakdown of the stanton 3000s
i really wanted the Sony 700s but then i learned of all the problems with them breaking and all which really discouraged me from that set... then next closest thing to those are the stantons and im worried about the design and how well they hold up
the HP and LP features seem to be pretty usefull, and the detatchable cord and the overall looks of the set have me sold - i want one!
if anybody has a pair of these, could you send me a PM |

| Everyone seems to have differing opinions on the Pioneer HDJ-1000 and the Sennheiser HD25, my top two candidates. :( I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out by writing a quick comparison of the two (I checked Head-Fi, no luck!). Thanks! |

advice please -
i have just got my first set of decks (woohoo:eyespop: ) and now i want a set of phones. looking at this forum and other reviews im kinda drawn to the sennheiser HD25's (expensive but nice). i could probably afford them (payday next week :happy2: ) but i dont know whether it would be worth buying a cheaper pair while im learning and then shelling out when i master it just in case i suck.
so guys i want an opinion - pay big money now or play it safe(and are the hd25's all theyre cracked up to be)?? |

| How well do the Pioneer HDJ-1000s perform as studio monitors? I read through that Skratchworx review and I'm still having a hard time deciding between that and the Sennheiser HD25. :/ Both look extremely good and I'm worried that if I buy one I'll regret not buying the other instead.. |

To Dex:
IMO, headphones are a REALLY big factor in your mixing, i once tried to mix for my girlfriends mom but i didnt have my usual phones, left em at my moms house, sony V600s.. anyways, i was cut down to using the phones that came with my setup which are crap, single sided mic phones that dont really hold onto your head all that great...
anyways... i couldnt really hear the cue track all that great and the result was one really embarassing mix...
the main point is go for the ones you want now, you'll end up paying for them sooner or later(if you really want them) so why bother with the middle man
there is no rule for buying equipment really, what ive noticed, the better your gear, the easier it is to get a grip on how to do this stuff
Sennheiser has a really good rep for making good headphones especially in the TA forums so you prolly wont be dissapointed with em much if at all |

exodus - thanks for telling me what i needed to hear!:happy2:
i have now invested in a pair of sennheiser hd25's which are now in the hands of city link!!!!:nervous: my original phones that came free with my decks were selotaped:rolleyes: together and fell apart inside 10 minutes so i cant wait to finally start mixing properly |
