Don't have a whole lot to add... other than those ocmparisons might be a little overstated... Ask people who have directly A/B compared different headphones... try and figure out what amount of isolation, what ergonomics, what type of sound you want, what your source is gonna be...
Also, the V6's arent uncomfy... especially if you change the pads to the Velour ones used on the DT250's...
Really, what is your budget and what are the local prices for your location? That should help narrow it down... can you go demo anything locally?
I've tried some Ultrasone headphones, and only some models in the lineup are really comfy.. but they DO have the type of folding DJ features that many need. Do you intend to use the extra folding features? How much isolation do you need? Are you going to get an amp? Give us some more info, and we can help more... |

the 500 DJ1 and HD280 PRO are around the same price here in australia
the DT770 and 271s are a fair bit more
i am really trying to choose from the 500 DJ1 and the HD280 but i cannot directly compare them.
have you heard the 500 DJ1 headphones? |

I am looking to buy the Sony 7506's, would I want to also order the replacement Beyerdynamic Pads for this model as well? I wasn't sure if it was only for the V6.
Thanks |

They are the EXACT same headphone, except that the 7506 has a gold plated plug and the v6 doesnt (no sound difference), the 7506 comes with a parts sheet, and the 7506 costs at least $20 usd more... |

| So the gold plate does not denote better quality? |

Not really... if your headphone jack is also gold plated, you might get a better connection with the gold plating, ie, if you rotate the headphone plug in the socket, it wont make any noise... but how often are ya going to be doing that? Essentially, the two headphones sound the same... |

Says who? and your credentials are? and you have listened to what..? This is based on which reviews? What do you consider a DJ headphone? Etc. etc. etc...
Why do I ask this? Because I seriously question why you have the V700DJ in there... |
you dont need a load of credentials to realise that when it comes to DJ'ing they are all you really need. it comes from observing many DJ's and seeing how thay pretty much all use these plus a few others.
and why the sony's? there is nothing really wrong with the sonys apart from they are flimsy.....so dont be so rough! |

| eh.. the story with turntables is totally different than whuts goin on with headphones... I would NOT buy something just because everyone is using it. IE Sony MDR V700s.. they sound like ass. Who cares about the standard? what many of us are interested is in quality. Technics turntables are quality. Hence, I bought them. The same cannot be said for the MDR700s. I listened to the HDJ1000's and didn't like those at all either. |

Headphones are a very personal thing, but i somewhat agree with dukes.
All you see in dj's heads are the ones he mentioned, plus one or two, such as Pioneer SEDJ-5000. |

the thing about everyone using it is.....there colective knowlage ane experiance is greater than yours on your own. these headphones i mentioned have been tried and tested in every club known to man and been successful.
would oaky, tiesto, AVB, PVD and so on use headphones that were crap? no probly not.
would they want to have the "best" stuff? yes they probaly would. hell wouldnt you if you erned that much money?
the MDR700's are a quality pice of kit and just because they (and the HDJ1000's) were not to your liking does not make them crap.
