Okay. No matter what, you are probably going to want a closed headphone for DJing, because there are simply too many places where you are likely to need noise attenuation.

ALSO, almost EVERY major headphone company makes closed-back headphones!! Not just the ones you listed!

For example, ANYTHING in this list will probably seal out at least some sound:

And hell, if you all consider the MDR-V600's "good enough" for DJing, than you could probably get some headphones in the <$30 range that would work fine (not great, necessarily, but fine) for djing too...

In this "low budget" application, headphones like the Sennheiser HD201, Koss UR-20, Sennheiser HD202, and AKG K26P would probably work fine. Now, if you are DJing in a really loud club and want something that is a little bit more of an investment, something like the Sony MDR-V6, Sennheiser HD280 Pro, or Sennheiser HD25-SP might work...

For a DJ who wants to spend his money, something like the Sennheiser HD25 or, hell, just pick something from Ultrasone should be great...

Guys... you NEED to start looking at Ultrasone cans... trust me on this...

Just got Ultrasone DJ-1 Pro headphones. They are, seriously, the best cans for DJ's EVER. Nothing else even comes close. NOTHING.

Here's a post that I made on another thread in this forum, and I think it may be quite relevant:

If you want to spend money on headphones, a good investment would probably be a headphone amp. This would enable you to use higher quality headphones that are harder to drive, and also improve everything about the sound. They are anywhere from $50 to $5000.

Lots of companies make studio-quality headphones that will work well for DJ's, IF you choose the right model...

AKG, Audio-Technica, Sennheiser, Sony, Ultrasone, and Beyerdynamic are just a few.

Some of these even have high quality DJ-targeted headphones--

Audio Technica ATH-Pro700, Beyerdynamic DJX1, Sennheiser HD25, Ultrasone HFI-500DJ1, Ultrasone DJ1Pro..

All of those would be worth looking into.

And not only the V700 is heavier than most headphones, but its weight distribution is poorly balanced as well. Thus, the V700 is both painful and unstable on the head. Ugh!

+1 they suck ass...I dunno what the big fuss about them is...I'd much rather use the Pionerr 1000's or Sony MDR 7506...

Is it true that the HDJ 1000s don't last?

also...

are the lower end technics any good?

Been looking at the Ultrasone DJ1 and the DJ1 Pro. Anyone have any first hand experience with these? Can't seem to find any stores here that physically have them so I can't try them out in person. Good for loud clubs? Is the pro worth the extra $50 or so? I'm used to using the Sony 700s and the Pioneer 1000s.

Also, anyone know if these are in the "recommended" list in the manual for Xone 92s/62s?

Thanks.

One cup snapped off my HDJ1000's in under 6 months of careful use.
