Just to give you a little background.
While I enjoy a regular club circuit in the South of England and sometimes London, not to mention a few trips abroad every year (Sweden again at the beggining of Dec) I am looking to really push it and see how far it will go. Also would like to play the US.

While I use the Sony 700s and they work for me, let's say I wanted to give myself a technical edge to perhaps just get that much more precission etc, money is no object and forget about comfort for a second. Which headphones would you recommend?

I have been considering the Sennheiser HD25 but thought that I might use your expert opinion on this matter. I must admit that I like the look of them but am worried about the amount of noise they block out.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

nem..

i used the sennheisers for ages before i switched to sonys...
Whatever you do- dont get the hd 25 sps...make sure they are the hd 25- The design of the SP is stupid and they swivel and fall off your head.

I was impressed with the sennheisers, but personally i didnt think there was as much clarity with them as the sonys.
They are very comfortable and very very very light, but for me the sonys have more 'presence' (hard to describe) in the sound than the senns.... maybe due to the high attenuation of them

I also found my ears got a tad more tired after four hours than the same use with the sonys

They also dont drop as low as the sonys.
People who moan about sonys breaking- try a pair of sennhesiers....the parts are replacable for a reason- they break lots...

first thing to go will be the cable, second thing to go will be a driver.
I lent my sonys to a fellow dj ( of some 10 years) who swears by his senns and he went out and bought his own pair the next day.

they are very very good headphones-highly recommended- but try before you buy in terms of sound.

Just my 2 euros worth
:tongue3

edit-Oh yeah- the main thing that really pisses me off about the senns- is the non coiled cable that you/other pople/the light jock always trip over etc etc

I just got a pair of Senn HD-280 pro silver after using the Sony V700 and AKG K271. I must say, they have GREAT sound! Better than the previous two- excellent bass, mids and highs! Isolation on the Sennheisers is air-tight. My only problem is comfort- there really is none. If you're going for extreme comfort with decent sound (less bass but awesome isolation) and money is not an object, get the AKG's. If you're going for looks, good sound (decent isolation), fair comfort and don't mind breakage after one year, get the Sony's. If you want outstanding sound and isolation with less comfort at a good price, get the Sennheiser's.

The 580's aren't DJ phones... Try the HD212 Pro's if you are looking for a value closed Sennheiser.

If any of you are interested in talking the talk with people who are experts on Sennheiser and AKG headphones, why not email or call the people at www.headphone.com? Ask them about the AKG K271 Pro and the Sennheiser HD280 Pro and the Sennheiser HD25... talk about your headphone geeks that are willing to talk to you about sound, isolation, and comfort... tho they aren't DJ's, you can still get lots of good information..

Lol! good luck with overzealous family members. Have ya read this thread and the comments therein about the V700DJ's?

hey ppl,

i'm planning to buy a new pair of headphones tomorrow. I haven't tried any, but i'm thinking to buy the sony v900 or senn's MD-25.
What would you advice me to buy?

hi, this is yet another noob looking for advice on headphones :haha: just couldn't read all those 40 pages, so hopefully someone who understands anything could recomend me something

this is the problem: i wanna do some producing and eventually some amateur dj'ing in the future and i'd want a pretty cheap pair of headphones who could show well enough all the frequencies of a track and good enough for beatmatching as well. when i say cheap, i mean something around 50 euros, i'm not prepared to give 200 for a pair of headphones :D but i don't have a clue about what to buy. sony? phillips? technics? (i know technics usually have a better sound in everything, but they're probably more expensive). models are a pain in the ass, all of them seem like a bunch of random numbers.

this question has probably been asked 1000 times, but please please be patient and recommend something :happy2:

Lessee... Portugal.. what's good for that price in Portugal... uhm... look for a used "Sony MDR-V6" or "Sony MDR-7506". Note that's NOT "MDR-V600". Also, try to find the Sennheiser HD280 Pro in your price range.. Good luck, try some online price-shopping; try to find local sites...

thanks a lot for the help :) from a short search on google the Sennheiser's looked really nice, for their 'Collapsible ear piece for single ear monitoring' and '>32 dB of ambient noise attenuation' but the link on your sig got me more interested on Sony's, for the supposedly better flatness of sound compared to Senn's.. I guess I'll buy whatever I find first and cheaper around here.. thanks again
