*DON'T* tell me you got some open sennheisers, HD570's no less, for *DJING*?!?! wrong tool, wrong job!!
Maybe a mod or some stretching of them would help. There aren't a lot of mods for the 280's yet, but there *IS* one...

Also, we have a new headphone alert!!!
Check out this review!

Note that this guy compares headphones that are hard to drive and easy to drive in the same review... he assumes that one would be using a headphone amp, and not necessarily a dj mixer, which presents a very different load (especially after EQ..) than most dedicated headphone amplifiers.
Remember guys -- the HD280 Pro straddles the line between 'easy to drive' and 'needs an amp to be driven well'. Some sources will work fine with it, others have trouble.. and, usually, an amp starts distorting before the headphones start distorting; i'd bet that your aiwa gave out. Also, don't equate 'how high i turn the volume up by the knob' with 'how loud these headphones can get without distorting'. Remember, headphones are speakers, and without the right amp behind them, they won't work right! |

^^^ Why would it matter? They're the same.
EDIT : whoops you meant "V6/7506" not "V6" OR "7506" right? Sorry, heh :toothless |

| I'd get some MDR-v700's. They absolutely rule and are excellent when you don't have a monitor. Volume can be at full and the sound doesn't really break up. :p |

| Kama, why not consider simply reading this thread a bit -- heck, maybe even all of the way through. It shouldn't be *TOO* hard to sell or return your v700dj's, get something better, less expensive, and more durable, and end up with some pocket money left over. Also, you are on quite a fast track to destroying your hearing; it might be wise to NOT play the volume on full (instead, get headphones where you don't have to...), and to wear earplugs wherever there is loud music... |

Hey Wise-ass! :D
If you have the cash on hand, why not get the best, rather than dick around with slightly inferior products. My comment about being able to have the volume very high and still have good quality is merely an example of how the 700's have enough power for low bass and crisp highs... aka- good sound isolation for each frequency range. But you didn't know that, so I understand where your wisdom is coming from. :) |

Um... your point WOULD be viable, that is, if the MDR-V700DJ's were the best out there. Instead, they WORK and do the job (not well...), but, in my opinion, are only worth maybe $50 on their own merits as a DJ headphone. So... in this case, the less expensive product is actually higher quality.. and the V700DJ's don't have good isolation, only average. The V700DJ's are efficientt, get loud, and don't distort when a crappy amp is straining it's heart out to power em... but they AREN'T good headphones! Generally, it is not a headphone that distorts when you turn it up, but it's usually the amp... :) Anyway, if you HAVE the money, than why not get a really nice (but hard to drive) headphone like the Beyerdynamic DT250-250, and get a dedicated headphone amplifier to plug into your mixer to give it enough juice? However, if your mixer has the sound quality to the headphones of most DJ mixer's out there, one will need a great set of easy to drive, comfortable headphones that isolate a lot and have actual sound quality and that the amp can drive -- ie, the Sony MDR-V6's or Sony MDR-7506's... the V700DJ's don't really have any accuracy or sound quality (or build quality, or comfort) to speak of, which you would know, had you read any of this thread. |

I just picked up a pair of Technics - RP-DJ1210's
Top Stuff. These are great. Best way to test out your headphones bass is to listen to Drum n Bass. Get some of that sub bass going.
Anyway just wanted to say that these are great. |

| Sup Gluegun, I had a question for ya! Or ShadySlim, his knowledge on all things heafone is getting better :D. But what headfone amp would u recommend to drive the 280's.... thro a mixer. |
|
|
| Gluegun |
| Well, spectra, there's the rub -- some mixers can and some mixers CAN'T properly drive the 280's... and I dont know a lot about mixers. :( I'd say get the 280's from a place with a good return policy. Since you are in Europe, it shouldnt be TOO hard... |

| No i'm ok thx :D. What even thro an amp too? If i get to much jip from the mixers I am thinking of getting (PCV-275, DJM-600, Xone62) then i'll look into building my own headfone amp. |

Is there anyone out there running some HD280 Pro's with a Behringer VMX300 mixer or similar??
What are the consequences if the mixer can't drive the headphones? Distorted sound? or no sound at all?? |
