WOAH!!!
Look at this site...
*blinks*
This guy is somewhat of the black sheep of head-fi (he's one of the few there that likes the V700DJ), but he offers some interesting comparisons of a LOT of VERY intruiguing headphones!

In case you guys have not seen, here is a nice review, well not that good, but still, its a comparison between four headphones:
Sennheiser SE-DJ5000, Sennheiser HD25, Sony MDR-V700DJ, and Technics RP-DJ1200.
Its called "Battle of the Titans" by Wayne Ellis. Here is the link:
http://www.pcmusic.co.za/archive/20...ones/index2.php
In addition, there is another review of of several headphones, but not as in comparison for djing, more for studio reproduction purposes and overall natural response.
The guy reviewed these:
Beyerdynamic DT250
Etymotic ER-4P
Sony MDR-7506
Sony V6, Grado SR80, Stanton DJ Pro 2k
Check it out, the guy mentioned that his V6 and the Sony MDR7506 sounded different and he actually gave the 7506 a higher review.

Ill also post this at the headphone sticky. |

You're right, that is a very interesting site, with some interesting reviews! I must disagree with an aspect of his HD-280 Review - Comfort. He gave it a 3, with the comment, "Poor for many, although there are plenty who seem to be happy with it also. Will get extremely hot. In summer."
*However*! He gave the Sony MDR-V700's a *7* in comfort: "Comfort: 7
Very good for reasonable durations, but those with huge ears may find the pinned back effect slightly uncomfortable. Has a tendency to get hot."
So the HD-280's get 3, and the V700's get 7, haha good joke. The senn's are very comfortable IMO, especially compared to the V700's. This shouldn't even be an issue. |

I personally did not like that review, as the person seemed bias towards the 700dj.
Comfortable???? Yeah right, I believe the what he was most comfortable was the look of the headphones, if anything.
Before purchasing the 700DJ, i noticed that every review mentioned that the bass was very strong and that they were heavy and uncomfortable.
Some people are just bias towards something for their own reasons.
To be honest, it took me a bit to get used to the 7506, but recently Ive been really enjoying the headphones.
Ive been working with them even for djing, and they have been cutting it well (for home practicing at least). And after using the sony mdr7506, the less I want to use the sony my Sony MDR-V700DJ.
The only thing that concerns me about them is that they are a bit fragile.. for instance, the cord is really thin, kinda flimsy, the ear pads are made from some cheap plastic material. I dont see them lasting through some djing use, so I will only use them until I get enough money to purchase the Technics RP-DJ1200A, and I will keep using the 7506 for producing and general listening purposes. |

You're right about that, one of my friends who got a V6 (same thing), already has his pads in pretty bad condition (ripped, etc.) after about a few months of use. I suggest you get the Beyerdynamic pad mods, as Gluegun has (most likely) suggested somewhere in this thread. |

Yea, the Beyerdynamic pad mods are all over this place...
And, what else... there is the stretch mod for the V6/7506... There is a mod for the HD280 and HFI-650 (to improve the comfort of the headband) ... People have started to figure out a Beyer pad mod for the HD280, but that's stil in the works... |

glue gun, can you recommend any models by those companies that are good and as close to around $100 as possible. i mentioned before that the only reason i need the new phones is because my v6's can't handle that much power, either i've cranked them to hard before or they just have a low limit of handling but at this club i've been spinning at for the last 3 weeks, i've been having a tough time keeping them from blowing out.. so i was thinkin of those pioneers cuz i found them for cheap, not the crazy ones but the ones that are black.. by lookin' around it seems that those are good dj headphones and can handle lots of power w/ 50mm drivers or something, and they seem to be about 140 everywhere but i found a site that sells them for 90.. so i dunno, im thinkin of just grabbing them. don't really care about quality as long as they can handle power, because at home for practice and to make CD's, i will still use my sony v6. |

Actually, I dont believe that distortion is your V6's getting close to blowing out (though it could well be!), it may just be the V6's telling you -- quite honestly -- that your source is distorting...
